That is also assuming the only way off a vent is death.
Or that there aren't people dying with DNRs that do not allow intubation.
Also some of those deaths may not be from yesterday, but were waiting for determination.

I believe the state's numbers from yesterday for vents is incorrect, because today's totals are similar to 4/5/20, whereas the 4/6/20 numbers misallocated hundreds of vents, in my opinion.
The good news is that nobody is using more than 50% of their vents except for Region 7.

Not all deaths were on ventilators.
Not all deaths happened yesterday, there is a lag because the coroner has to determine cause of death and report it to LDH.

Hospitalizations likely were poorly reported over the weekend. Yesterday's numbers for a few things (such as vents) are questionable. I would bet those hospitalizations occurred over a several day period.
As for deaths, we don't want people to die, but when they die and nobody is waiting on their vent, that is good news.

So any thoughts on that maybe some of the hospitalizations are for those who need strict monitoring as Commander Data did (see the stickied poli post)? He never went on a vent but was in the hospital In Alabama for like 10 days?
Maybe the non icu bed space is available so they're allowing those admits?
Also, can docs in Louisiana use the meds on those not in the hospital? Maybe they're admitting people so that the meds CAN be used if it's hospital only???
And I"m so tired of people not getting the deaths will lag .. the FB idiots screaming for a national shutdown. Oh man it's enough to drive you nuts!

But it's also been theorized that vents don't help so ... I mean I'm glad they're available it just seems according to posts here from medical guys/gals that they're not helping. IDK.

I’m not sure how you think 44 less people are on vents is a good thing if 70 people died. I mean, it’s safe to assume most of those who died were on a vent so when deaths go up vent numbers should go down? I wouldn’t be excited about lower vent numbers until we have much lower deaths.

Doctors are also admitting more covid patients that are in high risk groups profilactivly now since there is less fear of the hospitals being over run.

ICU beds are an average of 70% full in each region. Region 2 is the highest sat 84% in-use.

Most of those dying were likely on vents. If those people died and nobody took their vent, it means less people on vents overall, and it's a great indicator that we will see a drop in deaths.
Nobody is celebrating people dying. But what is done is done and using the numbers to predict the future is all we have now.

how are y'all not understanding that having people not immediately put on those vents means that we will begin to see deaths decline?
deaths are a lagging indicator
if we continue to see vent usage decline, deaths are soon to follow

People had been dying, yet vent usage was steadily going up. So that number coming down isn't a negative.
