Seems like the cop was mostly just goofing with him about the permit deal and just wanted the guy not to be running the little boat all around the launch area, until the guy wanted to be a douche about the whole thing.

First of all, that is a pretty cool setup he had. There was no traffic and if you have to buy a permit to for a RC boat then frick the state.
If he was truly not supposed to be there and needed a permit, there is a much better way for that lazy arse cop to handle it. He could have gotten out, approached them shaking their hand and asking about the boat and then say "Look, I just want to let yall know that the law is ________________. I am not going to give yall a ticket or anything because yall were probably not aware of the law" then tell them where they are able to put the RC boat in the water.
That cop was your typical small city cop who doesn't want to have to do too much work so he looks for these opportunities where he doesn't even have to get out of his vehicle. frick him.

Boat means anything manufactured, designed, marketed or used as a craft for water flotation, capable of carrying one or more persons
If he put the RC toy in the water without using his tiny trailer does he still need a sticker?

There are laws about motorboats and launching them. There are no laws about driving a toy boat around the lake. The fat arse cop was doing what fat arse cops do, avoiding real police work and then fricking with lawful citizens to get his rocks off. 99% of cops are loser assholes like this one.

I live in Madisonville and the cop is a fricking count. His job and only job is to patrol the levee on the river write tickets if someone is speeding by the middle school/ piggy wiggly and patrol the road to the boat launch. They are glorified school crossing guards if any crime takes place the St. Tammany cops are sent.
He made my daughter call me to go pick her up from the boat launch on a summer night 10pm, because she was a minor, she was 17 years old hanging out w/ 3 other girls 2 of which were 18
No drugs or drinking no issues, this from his mouth. They were the only kids around he let the 18 year olds leave and made the parents to come pick up the to "minors". The cop gave a holyer then thou speech. I asked my daughter and the other girl to go wait in the truck and turn up the radio. Then I talked down to him like the count he is. He followed me to my truck and walked around looking anything. I went to the police station the next day and complained about him but to no avail. They are all intertwined in marriage and relation with the mayor and council.
So frick him he is usless.
