Your Mom was the first to know you were on your way into this world.

My Mom died in a similar way. Her kindness never left her.

Sorry for your loss. You will always miss her.

I'm in a class now and it has helped so much in processing losing my dad to Covid earlier this year.

Watched my grandma go through it. Horrible thing to watch. At the end I just prayed for the lord to take her. God bless you during this time.

She had severe Dementia I didn’t know much about this disease until my mom got diagnosed with it.

Alzheimer's and Dimentia are two of the cruelest fricking diseases on the planet. Watching loved ones waste away and not even recognize their own family is heartbreaking. I watched my uncle go from it, as well as my stepdad's mother. It's an evil disease/combo.

I know Cancer is the disease we are trying to find a cure for ( rightfully so) but to watch your mom decline over a year is hard.

I can tell you the mental decline is harder.

In fear of this being the wrong time and place, I'll be short but I often wonder if our medical advances that extend the duration of life is a net positive. Alzheimer's, demetia, other cognitive suffering brought on by advanced age is just so tough for the loved ones, and has to be extremely cruel to the victim also. To be so lost in a world they knew so well and once thrived in.

I don't know, I just know that I've been thinking about this scenario with my parents as they age and knowing that some things are simply not going to get better with them, they'll only get worse. Father Time always win the battle.

To the OP, I'm very sorry for your loss. I hope that you can find some comfort in the long life that she lived and that the genuine sweetness she lived with is continued through you and your siblings and children.

It’s best for everybody.

Lost my grandparents to dementia.
Sucks to see people go back to infant stage.
