She was 83 and the sweetest person I’ve ever known. She had severe Dementia I didn’t know much about this disease until my mom got diagnosed with it. Some days she wouldn’t recognize me , her speech was also affected. What is worse was not wanting to eat. In the last three months on a good day she would eat maybe 8-10 bites of food all day. I know Cancer is the disease we are trying to find a cure for ( rightfully so) but to watch your mom decline over a year is hard. I really pray that none of your loved ever goes through this and hopefully one day we find a cure for Dementia. At least I know she isn’t suffering anymore and now with my dad

Lost my dad to the same thing about eight years ago. It is horrible. I can only imagine what people go through with loved ones with Alzheimer's.
I always remember as a kid, my dad saying he never wanted to be put into a home, but he did end up in a home. He would brag about his new house, flirt with the nurses, never understanding that he was in a home.

Sorry for your loss. Must have been tough seeing her decline with such a horrible disease. My mom passed suddenly at the same age. Someone told me, and it held true, that It takes a year for the grieving to subside. Blessings

Sorry for your loss. Much sympathy, as I went through the same thing with my parents.

I think I will ask for euthanasia if I start getting like my parents did at the end.

Lost my BIL to dementia. Remember your mom for who she was before the disease - and know she’s in a better place.

Condolences.
