Sorry to hear that man. I lost my guy earlier this year unexpectedly, and the loss was much worse than I thought it would be. It's the loss of a family member.

I haven't gotten another pup bc I'm just not ready. In time I'll rescue again.

Keep your head up. It takes time, but it does get easier.

Find a bunch of the greatest pics of the dog with all of you. Have a book made (can be ordered online) and keep a copy in the family room for all to enjoy.

The pain will turn into smiles remembering everyone's best friend.

Sorry for your loss. Had my best friend ever die in my arms at the emergency vet in B'ham from they think a heart attack. She was an American bulldog, deaf from birth. We had our own sign language to talk to her. Had a single door fridge, she learned how to open it with her nose. She ate an entire spiral roast ham before we figured out how to bungee cord it to keep her out.

Dogs are God's gift to man. They are always happy to see you and eager to please you. It doesn't matter that you JUST scolded them, or JUST spanked them with the newspaper because they pooped in the house. They love unconditionally, no questions asked. Dogs are a blessing. My lab is here next to me as I type this. I am sorry for your loss but I'm sure he had a wonderful life with you.

Sorry for your loss. I had to go through this a few years ago when one of my labs, a 14 year old yellow we got for my son when he was 6 died in my arms. He was slowly losing his eyesight and arthritis was starting to kick in. One Saturday he just laid under the trees all day looking around and didn't want to come in. That night he was sleeping in my sons room on his bed and started crying some. I went in and he was wagging his tail but couldn't get up. I sat on the floor and he put his head in my lap, looking up at me, then took a real deep breath and sighed and it was over. I cried for the whole next day. Our other two labs (one 8 and the other 4 months) sat in the yard while we buried him and you could tell they were sad.

It's tough but you just have to remember all of the good times and know how much he loved you. Dogs are special gifts.

Sorry for your loss. Dogs are the best. There's one in a shelter right now scared to death though that could use a good home. If you're up for it.
