Losing a loved one, or two, is heartbreaking

Lost my dad 8/24/16 to Alzheimer’s after a long battle. Then, my mom followed him to heaven 87 days later on 11/19/16. At 38 years old I was without my parents. Doesn’t seem to get any easier. If you baws still have your parents, love em and call em all you can. GEAUX TIGERS!

Sorry for your loss.
As much as it hurts for a son to lose his father, you will find it makes you grow in another way/phase. You’ll hear his advice when situations arise and his influence will always be with you in a very real way- assuming it was a good father/son relationship.
Amazing how often one spouse follows shortly after the first. Must have been true love.

I'm 41 and thankful that my parents are still alive. I lost my first grandparent at 19. They are all gone now. I cherish all of those memories.

I know what you're going through. I lost my younger, 24 year old, sister to suicide in 2014. I kind of lost my parents then as well, they were never the same.
I "lost" my dad to alcoholism a few years later. He got sober, and was doing great. Then he got diagnosed with cancer. I went to visit him for Thanksgiving. He ended up in the hospital prior to my getting there due to ascites. Went and visited him there while the doctor did rounds. He said, its Thanksgiving, we don't have anyone to drain today but we will do it tomorrow and you can go home. Give this chemo a few more weeks and you'll feel like a brand new person. He died a that night.
Then I got a call in February that my mom was being placed on hospice care with two months to live. She had breast cancer, beat it, and then it came back everywhere. I went back and forth to spend time with her during her final months. The absolute worst experience of my life. I watched her actively die for 4 days before I said I'm done and left. She didn't want me there. She died the day I left.
I'm 33 and have no immediate family left. It's been really hard.

I lost my dad to suicide in 2010. We were very close and there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. Cherish the memories and talk about your parents with your family . It gets hard for me during hunting season because we hunted together until his death. Having my wife and kids hunting now eases the pain. One day at a time.

Good parents are the best
Don't waste your time on shite parents. They haven't earned your heart.
So lucky that I have/had two pretty damn good ones

My wife lost her parents in 2007 and 2014 repectively. She still grieves.

Don’t focus on your loss; focus on what your parents gained by watching you grow and become a man. You gave them far more than you might realize.

I’m 42 and have no parents or grandparents.
You are not alone. I feel your pain and your grief.
Keep pushing.

A good friend of mine lost his dad when he was 12 and his mom when he was 23. I don’t know how he and his siblings dealt with that.
Prayers to you.
Prayers to you.

Lost my Dad in 1995 (46) Mom in 2010 (75) and brother in 2011 (47) due to heart attacks. At 59, the only sibling I have left is my younger sister. Even though you never forget them, it does get a little easier as the yeas pass by. Football season makes me miss them even more, especially Mom because she was such a big LSU fan. Geaux Tigers!!!!

Wow. I'm not on here nearly as much as I used to be but I gathered that you were going through some difficult times. I had no idea it was that bad though. I'm sorry for your losses and I absolutely wish you strength as you move forward through all of the shite you've been dealt.
I saw when you reached out to Nurse a month or so back and thought that was real sweet of you, especially because of all the grief she gets on here.

Nurse and HC are both very outstanding women. We all frick around on this website, but the people here are generally very kind, loving people.

damn... i'm so sorry to hear all that.... i guess in the coming and going and all the idle chatter on here, it kind of gets lost on a lot of us, that the people behind those user names are real people, with real world problems and stuff...
i don't have much to add to the "sorry" other than you seem like a pretty strong and amazing woman, so i know you'll find it easier with each passing day, just because you are the way you are...
