I can personally say there is no place under $7 a gallon currently several places advertise over $9 a gallon for credit prices.
Where?

The average cost of gas in Los Angeles is currently $4.75. OP - L.A. has everything imaginable both good and bad.

Let me guess, West Hollywood?
That’s the nice part.
But yes, it’s overcrowded, there are too many bums, and there’s litter everywhere. So New Orleans with good weather.

Just got back from San Francisco a month ago. 10-15% of the general public were wearing masks. That's a fact.

I just spent 2 of the last 4 weeks in LA for work. I stayed near LAX and spent most of my time in Santa Monica/long Beach. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I never had to go downtown so I can't comment on that part but I definitely had a different experience than you. I think it all depends where you stay

San Diego is pretty bad too. My GF lives in ElCajon and we make it into the city now and then and the poop urine spell is all over that entire city. Outside the city the freeways etc are full of roadside garbage that hasn't been picked up for yrs. The place is third world dirty.

Stop going on vacation to California.

Get the f*** out of here with this nonsense. Especially if you live in Louisiana. A state I grew up in and love, but enough bashing of other places. This board is so derivative and tired on the subject.
Shocker ... a mega city has some areas that aren't as desirable as others. LA is a good place to live

L.A. is also really large. There's so many awesome areas, and yes, some areas are bad. No different than any other city in the US

L.A. sucks
The L.A. metro has some great cities and areas
There is a huge difference between the two and what you are describing is mostly downtown L.A. problems
