The more charges that get filed, especially ones where the government could win in a walk, the longer her minimum sentence will be.

Her and her husband MIGHT get off with a minimum of time served but it will also mean they have to refile multiple years of taxes and pay hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in new assessments, penalties, and interest.

I'm assuming that if they had made a donation in that amount to a private school it would have been fine? I still can't wrap my head around spending that kind of money to get into USC.

USC is a private school, but I do get what you're saying. It isn't exactly as prestigious as Stanford or the Ivy League.

Umm tax evasion and fraud.

I get that but it shouldn’t have come to that in the first place. She should have just been able to cut a check to USC for whatever amount to get her daughters in. But muh diversity means they have to do it the shady way. shite is weak

She did it to get her kid into the school not to avoid taxes. Intent is important

Have you seen the endowments of these schools? Even a $1m direct bribe wouldn’t have been a drop in the bucket to the school itself.

It’s a lot easier to bribe a lower level functionary than a top person.

Just as a comparison, Dr Dre’s daughter got into USC but Beats had also made a gigantic donation to the college for a media program years beforehand. The donation was more than Loughlin and Massimo’s net worth.

Or maybe her daughter should have applied and gotten accepted on her merit and THEN just cut a check to USC for whatever the amount tuition was. Why are you willing to look the other way for someone who cheated the system who could actually afford to pay tuition at any school that her daughter would have gotten accepted to based on her grades and ACT/SAT scores? Why is it okay to look the other way in this case to you?

Perhaps but the point is, everything has a price. Let alone the fact that there is no difference from getting into a school bc you have a jump shot versus your mom having some cash. Are we going to pretend these schools are of the utmost integrity when it comes to academics?

It’s the tax evasion part. See Al Capone.

This is where the Feds get you. She will see some jail time. Remember, The is Federal, not state. My guess is 2-3 years. The Huffman chick jumped off early and the charges are less so she will get < 1 year.
The first one in, gets the deal.

She won't do 40 or anything close to it. But she will get long enough that she is going to have to develop a taste for munching carpet.

So, you would have no problem with people who bribed the registrar at Southern for grades or entire degrees they never earned? Because rich people buy degrees for their retarded children other places?

They still have standards for athletes. We see it at LSU all the time. Kid doesn't have grades from HS, goes Juco. Kid doesn't make grades while in college they can't play.

Ruh roh. Judging from statistics, 80% of them are going to be doing a few years under the watchful eyes in a U.S. penitentiary.

I wouldn't be surprised if that number is higher because of the publicity this case has garnered and the jury going "aw, HELL no!" on their asses.

I'm guessing she'll do probably 4-5 years now.

There is absolutely no way, IMO, that she does this kind of jail time.

Maybe a 30 day sentence or something with a massive fine, community service, and house arrest.
