Though Felicity Huffman faces up to 10 months in prison after agreeing to plead guilty to charges related to the college admissions scheme, NBC legal analyst Ari Melber says she will face “very little, if any” prison time. “There was a real admission and acceptance of responsibility,” he adds.

Am I the only one that DGAF about this?? Rich people gonna do rich people things.... this type of thing has been happening since cavemen days

No shite, make them pay ridiculous restitution and do community service so they can be humiliated while getting something out of them. Possible prison time for this is stupid and a complete waste of prison space considering the sick MFs out there walking the streets.

It doesn't happen like this all the time. Quid pro quo is one thing, but claiming it as a deduction is quite another.

Yeah this is very different although not necessarily much more ethical. In the past, people would have no middlemen and donate a large sum to the university. This had all sorts of middlemen and illegal activity that has probably never been done before, and it was done so the parents would have to give much less money.

Why give 10 million for a library addition or new lecture hall when you could pay a guy 100K to set up a 300K bribe to the sailing coach?

Who cares? USC is a private school with admissions open to the highest bidder.

Ummm, no. The admissions slots were USC's property. Sounds like, absent this scandal, the Loughlin daughters wouldn't have been admitted without a large financial donation to the school. Since USC didn't see any of the bribery money involved here and wouldn't have admitted the girls otherwise, USC's property was stolen (or taken due to fraud).

Is nobody wronged when someone lies on their mortgage application? What about when someone commits Medicare fraud? How about when someone shoplifts from Walmart? Should those people not face criminal charges?
