Don't go easy at all. Their future actions will reflect what your response is today.
Hes getting a form of high. It won't stop there. Find out where he obtain the.? Store that sold to.minor? "Friend" who helped get them, etc etc.
Cut all.ties to the supply, including forbidden contact with that person, including social media blocks, block on phone, erase contact, etc
Call those othe rpatents, school officials, coaches,....whatever
Depending on how your kid obtained, threaten legal action against adults, stores, etc

Go scorched Earth on any and all threads of this...you won't regret it..

Absolutely take away any electronics that have communication with outside .

How old is he?

Deep sweep of the bedroom. Chances are you’ll find vapes and other things that shouldn’t be there.

Sucks but something you can crack down on. Life needs to suck for the kiddo for a while.

I did whippets back in the day as a very young adult. Cracker, balloon, blast off into outer space in a porn shop parking lot. I turned out fine, never dove into anything outside of weed and speed. There was a group of 6 of us who ran around real tight back in highschool/college. We all did whippets and smoked weed. We all turned out just fine, except one of my buddies. Dude is still alive I think, but drugs have ruined him.

I know I’d come down hard on my kid knowing I’ve done just as bad, but the risk to slide into a dark place is drastically increased when you introduce drugs.

Gateway drugs is what they are

One of my sister's friends OD on whippets in college. Dead as fried chicken.

It's dangerous on its own. Doesn't have to be a gateway drug

To the ones saying crack down hard and make his life miserable etc I get where you’re coming from but speaking from experience I don’t think it’s honestly the right approach. I’m not saying let it slide either, for sure don’t do that, but going scorched earth on him will honestly just make him resentful and probably push it further as a way to deal with you.

Take him to an NA meeting maybe, especially a speaker meeting where someone shares their story. Let him hear the horrors of drug use from actual drug users, not just coming from dad who knows nothing at all about it. If just coming from you it’ll have the same effect as the dare program, ie no effect at all.

Let him know he’s not banging h but nobody starts there. It’s a slippery slope that you can lose control over in the blink of an eye. Actually talk to him and see how his life is going and maybe he’ll appreciate it and actually trust you when faced with something big. But don’t just take the you’re grounded no life for you now approach because that’s just asking for it.

Who gives a frick if he's resentful. That only provess he's not thinking like himself, or is really a pos in the making.
frick his feelings, you're literally trying to change o trajectory of his life.

No room for soft here. If you are resentful to your parents for how they reacted, you shouldn't be ashamed to breath. They were trying to help you.

Nobody just does whipits. Highest I ever got was doing whipits while on LSD in my much younger days. Only lasted a few minutes but was not a positive experience.

The bigger issue here is he picked mango flavored. He can go to rehab and get sober, but he can’t pray the gay away.

I wouldn’t say gateway drugs at all. Inhalants are pretty high on the danger/frick up your life scale.

This is fantastic advice. Honestly I’d take him to a few and go with him.

Fair? You pussy. Ain't no "fair" here. It's lay down the law and figure consequences and what they mean. The only fair thing to do is get your kid away from chasing feeling high...idiot

lol and that’s how you push your children further away and into hard drugs.

You are who you associate with, and your knuckle-dragging logic will do exactly that.

Pussy? lol…sure tough guy.

Had a girl in our group die on NO overdose in New Orleans in the Mid 90’s. Heads up daddy-o. Most kids try it once or twice. NO used to be readily available on bourbon street.
