My neighbor just bought an MDX and I would buy one. There's a ton of technology to understand.

and because it costs a lot more than a 4 runner or volvo

Porsche is constantly at or near the top of dependability studies. For 2017 the only premium SUVs that are rated higher are the Lexus RX and GX (though the cayenne is tied with the GX).
My wife has an RX, I think it drives like a tractor but she likes it.

I don't think that a mid size SUV would make a good wife. Just my $.02.

Buy or Lease?

One that has already been totaled. Save your wife the headache. Will also be easier to cope with when she re-totals it a week after getting it.

We bought the wife a 2013 BMW x5 with 28000 miles earlier this year...bought from carmax and got extended warranty....we also have a 2014 gmc acadia.....the BMW is a far superior vehicle by a large margin....explorers, Acadia, jeeps are not anywhere near in the same class as the germans

FIFY
I know it's not a TD baller thing to say but the sticker price and upkeep are much higher on those German vehicles.

yes, ya'll are right re: GX460 vs LX570, my bad. We will need to upgrade to GX when we need bigger as kids get older.

Maybe after 100000 miles but all vehicles require a bunch of maintenance then

VW just came out with a new one, the Atlas

Dodge Durango Citadel. I have the 2014. This is the 2017. Would buy again. Great car. Essentially, it is a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with a third row bench seat that lays down giving you a ton of room in the rear, at less cost. They both come off the same assembly line.
I have the technology package. It gets you that laser collision detection avoidance braking system that has saved my arse at least once.
Comfortable. Real comfortable. Incredible nine speaker plus sub surround sound. Nice interior night lighting. LED displays.

We're excited about that in the Volvo. There's a camera by the rear view that reads street signs and displays the speed limit in the dials. Should be cool.

The MDX has the constantly shifting/downshifting transmission, which I hate.
