Trying to find the wife something new to drive and wanting to get into a mid size SUV. Looked at the Lexus RX350, Acura MDX, 4Runner(which drove like a damn tank), Nissan Pathfinder, Ford Explorer, Audi Q5. What do y'all ballers have and what are the pros/cons. From what I understand, there is only 3-4K worth of play money on the Lexus, Acura, Toyotas. Help me out

I would go RX or MDX

Much better interiors than either the Pathfinder or the Explorer. Like the Q7 but you won't have Audi maintenance.

I don't really want an RX, but the fiancee always gets one as a loaner and they seem great for a wife vehicle.

bought my wife the Lexus GX (bigger than RX; smaller than the LX). We fit in it better than the comparable Infinity, Acura, Pathfinder, and Forerunner. She loves it and will probably get another after she and the kiddos are done thoroughly trashing this one. The interior build quality is awesome. One thing, get the 570, not the 460. We have the V8 4.6L and it cant get out of its own way when Im passing someone. The 5.7L is way better--have it in my Tundra.

Bought an MDX in early August. No complaints so far. I really like it. Big step up from my Kia Sorento which I had no problems with at all. I considered the Pathfinder but saw that it got terrible ratings by Consumer Reports and several people I know that own or have owned one in the past couldn't give me any good reason to buy one. They all said that they probably wouldn't consider one again.

The Q5 is a bit smaller than the MDX, the Q7 is more similar in size and capacity....but that's assuming you even care about a 3rd row. The Lexus was another I considered but it had no 3rd row option.

Need to see what the wife looks like in order to determine correct "wife vehicle".

I think the new Volvo XC60's are pretty damn sharp looking.

Holy hell. Is the search function on this site really this terrible? I know there have been at least 3 other threads on this.

Bought the wife a 2018 XC60. It made it to America on the 6th, not sure where it is though. It was supposed to be picked up on the 11th.

Damn you're right, I copied the wrong picture from the website. Thank you for reinforcing my opinion though, that one looks even nicer

So do we petition chicken for a better search function? I have no clout here. Someone more important than I needs to get this ball rolling

If you want a station wagon and not an SUV, why are you skipping the Highlander?

I think that's the best overall (station wagon) SUV for women (pussies).

wife drives a Lexus 400h . Pros are excellent quality , love the power. Cons are too damn much money for a mid sized suv, and it's barely a mid sized suv inside, don't buy it if you have more than 1 kid and it's gonna be your family vehicle.

I thought they only offered the 5.7 in the LX and the 4.6 was the only engine available in the GX. Am I wrong?

570 is only in the LX, baw. GX only has the 4.6 liter V8. That's the same block as the LS (before 2017) - I'm surprised you find it sluggish, but it is only 301 HP in the GX.

If you prioritize short and long term reliability then the RX is the best choice especially if you are willing to forgo AWD. There is a lot to like about the MDX but the new(er) 9 speed tranny gives me pause, Acura is not known for long term tranny reliability.
