World’s Fairs in the USA were already on decline pre New Orleans. Knoxville and Spokane were hosts. Supposedly Seattle with the Space Needle was the last great American one.
I think I heard once that Knoxville was the only profitable one, and it was barely by a few sheckles at that.

Yeah, I get that. It's called negotiating. I see this site hasn't changed much.

Looks like what I've been trying to find. You plan on selling it?

Hemisfair San Antonio GOAT
Jk…parents weren’t even married yet. Wish I could have gone to a Fair like that. Fun fact: the gondola was supposed to be moved to Corpus Christi after the fair. Not sure why, but it never went down.

I remember
I remember seeing the boat that was used during the filming of the 1951 movie "The African Queen" with Bogart and Hepburn and thinking...damn that boat looked much bigger in the movie.

Many thanks to all who participated. Met up with tickfawtiger earlier today and picked up the sign. Planned on hanging it in the gamerom, but Mrs. FCP says it should go in my office. Dunno, but it was something I've spent a long time trying to find, and it's an awesome conversation piece.

I see you've found one. If you know anyone looking, let me know. Thanks.

I love everything about this. The colors, the mascot, the New Orleans nostalgia.
Love this whole thing. I was a tiny tot in the 80's but my memory of New Orleans during that time was fond.

I was there and it sucked. Not worth remembering or commemorating. It fact, it was so bad that the World's Fair has never come back to the United States since.
I think World Fairs hit their zenith in the 20’s and 30’s. They seemed to be quite the spectacle in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Don’t have a sign but I did have a season pass to the fair. It may have been a financial disaster but it was fun and it did revitalize a crumbling neighborhood in New Orleans.
