"Plagued with attendance problems, the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition was the only exposition to declare bankruptcy during its run. As of 2023, there has not been a World's Fair in the United States since the exposition in New Orleans. "

I was there and it sucked. Not worth remembering or commemorating. It fact, it was so bad that the World's Fair has never come back to the United States since.

You are 100% wrong! It was great. I was a season pass holder and visiting it very often. Loved it. The reason there was no more in the US afterwards was because it was a financial flop. The WF Committee scheduled too many World's Fairs in such a short timeframe that it cut way back on traveling visitors.

Agree on both counts. The Pizza at the Italian restaurant was the best I had ever tasted.

Do you mean those times it was broken and stuck or the few times it actually worked?

My family and I rode the gondola. There was some mechanical problem and we ended up sitting over the river for about half an hour, slightly swaying in the wind.

I remember there was a food vendor that was selling chocolate covered bananas. My old man said that it looked like "shite on a stick."

I remember Seymour D. Fair, the Enterprise space shuttle, and the balloon animal guy at the French Pavilion.

I know my folks have pictures from the fair boxed up somewhere. That sums up my memories of the '84 Worlds Fair.

Meh, possibly. It's been 40 years.

For us oldheads who were around back then and had season passes (you had to get them at Maison Blanche)- there was no better time to be had as a kid than going to that Fair every weekend .. to this day,, it always kinda blows my mind when it’s talked about as a colossal failure, since i have nothing but great memories.. then again, i wasnt a financier with skin in the game, i was just a kid .
