Look at Bluffworks travel sportcoat. Machine washable and doesn’t wrinkle.

Since you didn’t specifically state wear to buy as most people apparently think you did but rather requested a casual classic I’ll state the obvious.

Paul Allen still has his mom buy him his work clothes as an individual contributor for Build a Bear.

Looking for something that can be worn almost every day. Something to step up from the light fleece jacket i wear during the winter.

This is actually great advice.

great quality but I don't think he's looking to spend $700.

Go to men's warehouse, Macy's always has a sale.

If you're trying to get a great coat and not pay too much - check nordstrom rack or off 5th. You can usually get a good deal, then take it to a local tailor and get it altered to fit you.

Have you thought about a more casual wool lightweight jacket?

That might be exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want to look like a try-hard, I'm absolutely not "fashion-forward"

I think that first one especially is pretty classic.

I couldn't find any decent pictures earlier, but I have one that's fairly simple and classic that gets lots of compliments. The gray wool dresses it up just enough. I can wear anything under it - from a t-shirt to a long sleeve button down, and it looks good.

This is more like mine:
