Damn, you were describing my dad almost exactly until the bold. Took him 11 years while working full time as a Project Engineer while [re]married with 3 (and eventually 4) kids. He had me quiz him on his Differential Equations flashcards when he drove me to school in the mornings. Smartest man I’ve ever known. Has forgotten my birthday 3 times.

6 years (though in that time I took an accumulative year off.) I transferred twice so that didn't help losing a couple Ds along the way. At the end I accelerated into my wedding by taking 42 credits to finish my degree in the 10 months proceeding it. I did everything opposite of what advisors tell everyone to do. Hard classes first led to roughly 30 of the 42 being bullshite classes like bowling, HTML web authoring, and 3 intro to computing classes in the different departments. I wish I had taken easier classes to start... being on academic/social restriction after pledging sucked arse.

My sister. Graduated HS in 2010 and started college that fall and won’t graduate until next December
Just post a reddit link, we’ll take it from there.

A friend of mine took 10 years, then completed his PhD in 4 years.

I know a few 7 and 8 year students for undergrad. Most because they went 2-3 years into a highly specific degree, then switched to another highly specific degree with little overlap in courses.

If you graduate in 4 years, you’re doing it wrong.

My fellow classmate Anne took 6 years to complete an undergraduate degree. She worked part time and took medication for serious health problems. She was 38 years old when she started in 1988 and graduated in 1994.

Took me 6. But I didn’t care about school at the time. Looking back, I let a lot of opportunities slip away. I have a friend who spent 11 years as an undergrad. Right before he was about to get a degree, he realized that his degree field was going to be obsolete. So, he changes to a computer/tech field and spent more years in school. He does well now. He runs computer systems for one of the hospitals in Baton Rouge. Great guys. Hot wife (no pics).

It’s too expensive these days to just hang around. And to the guy who took classes to just take classes, I’m almost 50 and have a BS, MS. I’d love to just take a class for learning purposes but at $1500 at ULL for a three hour class, yeah I’ll buy a book or two and learn something (although I get the point).

For what it’s worth, college is free for older people. I don’t know the age you gave to be to get in for free, but there is a program.

I graduated high school in 1990.
I graduated from LSU in 1997.
Technically...I should be a Doctor.

It took me 8 years, but I played in a working band, started/owned a business, and was a double major with a minor. Plus I took semesters off here and there.
I used to catch shite about it from friends & family, but I now double most of them up in salary...so I don’t feel bad about starting my “profession” 4 years late.
That was just 4 extra years of college girls.

I took a six year break. Worked a lot, moved around. Finally decided to go back and got straight A's and graduated in a year and a summer. It was much easier when I wasn't chasing the drink and pussy.
