And I have never spent more than $40 on myself for a meal on the company dime. He’s saying one lunch was 10x that. My boss has been with me and we lived it up but I’d be scared as hell to have some $75 charge for one meal pop up without some explanation.

I think you guys are misreading this. It’s a cafeteria, which means relatively set costs for staffing, utilities, etc. I don’t believe he was saying that the meals were worth $400. I believe he was saying that, because of how few people were eating in the cafeteria on a daily basis, the cost to run the cafeteria, obviously also including the cost of the food, was coming out to roughly $400 per meal served.

A waste of money? Sure. But I think people are off base reading extravagance into this.

My understanding is that this was per person

It is per person. It is also a bit disingenuous for the Rantards in this thread to act like employees were getting "extravagant" $400 meals/day. It isn't remotely the same thing.

They are eating absolutely extravagantly

Not really...if you think shrimp and rice, matcha and a glass of red wine are "extravagant"

You also fail to understand why the things in the video are perks to begin with. They speak to the complete lack of work/life balance at a place like Twitter.

They can go frick themselves and this brings me great joy

I suggest you log off and re-evaluate if this is what brings you joy.

Thirteen Thousand a year doesn't seem like a lot.

For real though, $13MM on total food service is accounting for more than just lunch. Probably significant savings to be made though.

Ah, this adds up. I was wondering when the hell does a workplace cafeteria lunch cost 400 bucks but this makes sense and is likely correct

Looks to me like Tracy Hawkins had zero clue on how to run that program she was in charge of and adjust the number of meals being prepared relative to the number of workers actually coming into work. Instead of people being outraged Elon took it away they should be questioning Tracy why she hates the world so much she threw away enough food to feed a 1000 people every day.

With her qualifications however she will probably get a job in federal government or a position running school meals where a similar amount of waste is seen on a daily basis.

Oh yeah, the team that’s fine, but $50 a person is more reasonable than $400 that these brats received. $50 a person is what a good organization that expects you to earn it. There’s no way a daily lunch should cost $400.

Youre right it’s not extravagant. All the same, you can pay for it yourself.

Why do you care if a Twitter employee gets free food in the office?

Ah yes, you champions of the working people. Defending a billionaire over ... thousandaires.

How many thousands goes into a billion by the way? Is it a thousand? Oh wait, no, it's a million. Mr Musk, after wasting 44 billion, still has ... 200 billion.

And that's the dude whose nuts you hang on. Pathetic cucks.

Because we don’t like blue haired progressive Twitter employees. It’s not a difficult concept.

Where do even eat lunch that costs 400? I’ve never had a meal cost 400 for myself alone and I’ve eaten at some really high end restaurants. Were they ordering 150 dollar glasses of wine?

I’ve had one in New York that ran me and my girlfriend at the time $650, but that’s as close as I’ve gotten to that.

Because my suffering and destruction brings them joy, and additionally it is their jobs. In the private sector, only Raytheon has more disgusting employees.
