There’s more than a few bands like that around here, Neutral Snap is probably the most obvious example. People around BR inexplicably LOVE cover bands. There are a lot of awesome original bands with no following and some wildly mediocre cover bands with huge followings. It makes no sense. At least the Molly Ringwalds are good at what they do. Some cover bands like Warewolf are just f$&king sloppy and sound like shite, but pack bars and make a ton of money. I really don’t get it.

They were my favorite cover band back in the day. So many fun nights at the Caterie.

I mean, a terribly named ripoff of an already terrible band...what do you expect.

Are they a cover band?

They do both covers and originals. Their originals aren’t ground breaking, but they’re decent for the genre. I don’t have a problem with them. From what I’ve seen, they are competent musicians who execute their genre well even though it is a genre I don’t care for. With that said, they’re not nearly as tight as a band or as sound of musicians as the Chase Tyler Band. Once again, not a huge fan of the genre, but those dudes are professionals and it shows.

Yes they sing 90’s country through now with some southern rock. They’re a good time. Don’t understand the hate they get on here sometimes. People overthink these cover bands.

The cover bands that get hate largely do so because they’re not very good bands. Their singers are out of pitch, their rhythm sections aren’t together, the lead guitar can’t solo for shite. The good cover bands earn their money and respect. The other issue is original musicians just not understanding the appeal of cover bands and why they get paid 5 times as much as original bands at the local level (hint: you make 3 times as much money just by being able to play for 3 hours instead of 1 and not having to split the door with other bands)

The Velcro Pygmies

They are washed up now but they kept non-grunge rock alive in the 90s and early 00s. The local bands that are "inexplicably popular" are so because of their performances more than quality of music. Velcro Pygmies were fun and brought out the hotties

They don’t play original music during their sets. I think they have 4 original songs written in 7 years.

Their vocalist uses a voice box live. It’s like an auto tuner. But hey, they cover Garth Brooks so the masses eat it up.

Also, werewolf (not warewolf) is a great band. They’re actually a fun cover band that does 80’s songs a bit differently.

They get paid well because they play whatever the venue wants them to play aka hit songs.
