Maybe she doesn’t own enough clothes to attend class.

Now "student"-athletes get NIL money AND don't have to even show up for classes?

Look, if you wanna get your OSHA 30 hour over the internet, that's fine, but you can't get a real education if you never meet your professor or classmates. How are you supposed to share ideas and see how they're received without face to face interaction? You can't practice the Socratic method through a screen.

Like I said, I'm sure it's fine for some things, but advanced STEM, liberal arts if you ever want to be more than a high school civics teacher - you need to be in class.

Depends upon the job and the degree program.

I won't trust a dispatcher who's never even seen the trucks they manage or the product they're hauling, and I won't trust a poli-sci professor who got to defend his thesis over a zoom call in his PJ's.

Honestly, any big-time athlete attending class would be a distraction at best….

There will be distractions at pretty much every workplace in the real world. May as well learn to start ignoring them and do your work as early as possible.

Been working in the real world for 30 years, and I have yet to be distracted by something like that.

Distract me, PLEASE.

I think it's probably more "allowed not to" than "not allowed to."

I had a history class with Don Redden in one of those big rooms in the basement of Lockett. Dr Sidney Cohen taught the class. Don rarely showed up and when he did, he would sit in the back and read Sports Illustrated magazine. After a particularly long absence, Don took his seat in the back and started reading SI. Dr Cohen noticed Don and announced to the entire class “Well! Look who decided to grace is with his presence today!” You just knew it killed him to (allegedly) give accommodations for certain athletes.

She had a large social media following from jr Olympic competition (might have been a show that followed competitors/competition) before she arrived at LSU and before NIL happening the summer before her sophomore season.

I don’t remember her having issues on campus before NIL during her freshman season or even early on after NIL. She moved away from being a true student-athlete and just uses the label along with school’s facilities & logo when it benefits her. It just needs to happen officially with the school and with her.
