Sure but as long as a sheriff keeps his nose moderately clean and doesnt piss off too many voters he's golden. Sounds like Ard may have stepped over the line.

Don’t you think that they know more than what you do? Don’t you think that they have spoken to Mrs Perkins about this already? Don’t you think that if any of this was just a rumor that they would be wanting to put it to rest quickly?

It never happened. That EBR LEO is a disgrace to the badge for not writing things down. Sheriff Tard

His interview the other day implied he was supposed to report the concern raised to him about Lt Baw but didn’t.
He is a mandatory reporter.
And this is before anything else that pops up.

think less “sheriff” and more “lord of the realm”.
in the unincorporated areas of a parish the sheriff is both the tax collector and the enforcement of laws and ordinances
he is beholden to no one
I think it was earlier in the thread where someone mentioned lots of people would not sign a petition of recall, I thought this was kinda odd but I am getting the picture now. I can see where even a law-abiding citizen might not want to put their name on something that would get them on someone like Ard's "bad" list.

I still find the cupcake story hard to believe since there has been NO change in school policy about bringing food to school.
Kids are dumb and will likely copycat now that they have ththe idea.
That's the last thing on their minds right now I'd think until they sort out the other obvious issues. Lawsuits will likely be flying.
I do know one set of parents that were contacted by the school board. Their daughter was a student from last year. My daughter was in Perkins English class this year, but they were never offered baked goods.

Is that a felony? Do you think a jury would convict him on that charge? What’s the state statute on that?

Looks like a misdemeanor. Sentence is 6 months.

The Sheriff is at least guilty of not reporting suspected abuse. The mandatory reporting requirement is going to be his downfall and it should be. Someone in his position should take all accusations of abuse and neglect of children serious and report them to Child Services immediately.

Google lafayette city Marshall Brian Pope to see how hard it is to get an elected official out of office. He was arrested for the first time 3+ years ago and is still just “suspended” from office pending appeal of felony conviction.

Go ask Harry Brignac the ex police chief of french settlement.
Jason Ard is an elected official.

I cant even imagine what that phone call or email would look or sound like.. i mean, just the wording and verbiage that the school board would use to inform them that their young daughter may have inadvertently ingested some pedophile’s semen... it boggles the mind, seriously.
