That Deer Run subdivision is proposed at 2029 lots on 1345 acres. Just one of several being proposed on 4H club road. That road is going to be a shitshow and cause an even greater bottleneck at the Fl Blvd intersection.

Ain’t that the truth. Every time I drive down that road, I shake my head at the new subdivisions. It’s a damn shame

There’s even some jackass down here by me in Maurepas that cleared a bunch of land for a subdivision. A whole subdivision in the swamp

Are there two Livingston Parishes in Louisiana? Surely we can’t be thinking of the same place.

It's nuts. Any citizen with a lick of sense can see this is a problem, and there's even plenty of evidence of the issues with recent flooding and the horrid traffic. Yet the politicians don't give a flying frick about it.

I have talked to both of our council ppl about it. They got a temporary hold on it for a few months last year but they are outnumbered. Just last week I passed through Yocum back there by you. It doesn't look anything like it did just 10 years ago, its crazy.

Watson is blowing up right now. If there is 100 acres of undeveloped land, they are proposing a subdivision.

The real issue with expansion is that there are still only a few ways to get into the Parish

No doubt Houston have some really good planners.

They better find a way to fix I-45 in downtown and quit getting bogged down about the highway expansion being racist.

Anyone who has witnessed the actions of Ascension Parish knows an area can't start hardcore develop until the infrastructure is in place and then the development, itself, has to be done right.

You know that, other than maybe Lafayette, the entire state is garbage at developing infrastructure at any point, much less being proactive about it.

Baton Rouge sits on one of the most traveled interstates in the South and it still goes down to two lanes. It is conjested on good days and on bad days it's a cross between Mad Max and Saving Private Ryan.

The only reason Baton Rouge doesn't have a bypass yet is because the local politicians don't see enough money to steal from the project.

There is a way to do this right. But it requires:

1) Leaders who are forward thinking

2) Developers who are willing to help fund the initial infrastructure investments via bonds

3) Tight government planning / HOA covenants

But in LA... we have no leaders, cheap developers, and everyone hates government planning / HOAs / telling people what they can and cannot do with their homes.

They are overdeveloping the shite out of the LP though. 300 home cookie cutter DSLD subdivisions as far as the eye can see with no end in sight.

But who is moving there? All white flight out of BR? The BR transplants can only afford those crap homes?

It's not like there's any industry or anything bringing new people to the metro area.

South Louisiana's cities have a damn strong industrial base.

They struggle with white collar jobs, but blue collar workers and engineers usually don't have many issues finding lucrative employment.

That said...Livingston isn't really where those industrial jobs are.

I've asked the same thing about St Tammany Parish. All these new residents are paying taxes... WTF is happening with the increased tax dollars?

No one seems to be able to answer that...

Let’em come and let’em build. I’ll eventually sell it all and move to Florida where the REAL crazies are.
