CORRECTION....the students IN TANDEM with their PARENTS, determine the viability of their OWN schools !!

And replace them with what? I’m sure the best teachers are lined up to take a 5-10k pay cut.

Fixed income has always been a term to describe elderly retired folks, so take your semantics games elsewhere.

I'm not anti teachers making more money, I'm anti increasing taxes to do it, especially knowing my senior parents will have to deal with the affects of one of the highest sales tax rates in the country, all while Louisiana insurances are going through the roof.

Fine, my parents are retired and living off of benefits paid for when they were employed, and those benefits will generally not increase during this period of rapid inflation. I'm not sure how fixed income is an emotional response generator when it is a well known historical term to describe that situation, but good for you on being annoyed by a common term.

You actually are against teachers making more money. Their salaries are paid through taxes so the only way to give them a raise is through taxes.

By your logic, you hate the elderly because this would actively take more money from them. You're also incorrect because tax monies received are increasing due to inflation already driving up the price of items, you just want an even bigger amount.
Why can't legislation be put forward that changes how the taxes are divided up and have teachers support that?

No but I do think there is a cost of doing business. It’s going to cost more to live in an area that values education which typically would mean a better place to live.

Our elected 'officials' need to do a DEEP-DIVE into the ENTIRE tax base i.e. each tax receiving entity should have to present a yearly COMPREHENSIVE report as to HOW their budget is managed/justify WHY they should be given such tax monies etc. It's high time ALL taxes are re-evaluated/reduced/re-distributed etc. Sick of seeing excessive tax $ going to over-bloated library boards/council on aging/bus taxes and on and on and on with no end in sight !

Again, the legislature literally does this each year. It then sets the budget for each agency. And the auditor audits each agency. It’s all public record. Go look at it and show up to the legislature to tell them how an agency can be better run.

The school board does that and is available for the public to review. Council on aging, CATS, library board , etc would have no bearing on this tax. This tax was directly for employee salaries. If you compare to surrounded districts LP employees from schools to central office are understaffed and underpaid. LP employee got punished for conservative rhetoric and democrat waste.

The government checked itself and found itself innocent of all crimes.
Shocked.

Why would you not give them raises? I saw their Superintendent makes like 100k less than the super in Ascension. Y’all dumb in LP.
You have no idea how ignorant you sound.

So tell me then why Baton Rouge spends more per kid than LP yet isn't as good.

EBR spends more because it has a high percentage of Special Ed because most private schools don't take them and due to the high poverty which means more federal funds. These federal funds have rules on how they are spent.

If the school board would quit creating positions to give to underqualified former teachers then maybe they wouldn't be so bloated. I'm sure if the money really went to teachers and recruit of more qualified teachers it wouldn't be an issue.

More likely that most elderly will get a social security increase before the teachers get a pay raise
