Living With Your SO Before Marriage. Smart or Sin?

Does it mean I’m going to burn in hell for living with my SO (no pics) before putting a ring on it? I get told by other people my age and people as old as my grandparents that it is a terrible sin to live under the same roof with my lady before making the commitment of marriage before God. However, I have seen countless friends end up in a divorce two to three years into their marriage because they realize they just don’t like each other or can’t compromise on anything. What says the OT from experience?

I don't buy cars without a test drive, I'm sure as hell not getting married without one.

Married going on six years, didn't live together prior. Not opposed necessarily just make sure being married is different than living together. You may not have the marital bliss stage if you lived together prior. That was nice for us.

I lived with my wife for roughly 2 years before getting married. Best decision I ever made.. got to see that we can cohabit happily.
I used to laugh at the purists that would tell me stats that people who live together while engaged are less likely to get married. Isn’t that the point?? If you find massive flaws you can’t overcome then call it off before the wedding. Both parties are better off for it.

That's not because they didn't live together before marriage. Probably more of getting married too soon.
All these dudes saying "do you test drive a car before you buy it" is about right for the level of advice you'll get from the OT

My wife and I moved to San Francisco after we graduated from LSU…we actually left before I walked for my graduate degree. I had a job. We weren’t engaged…who gets engaged in college? Pretty much had to live together while dating.

I'm Catholic & Italian, so it wouldn't have just been sin, I would have been kicked out of the family.
