No way I go on a no-knock warrant raid if I'm a cop. They are BS and should be outlawed. Along with the ATF. And civil forfeiture.
The worst case scenario in a no-knock raid is the occupant lives.

How much does an Airport Executive Director earn?
His salary was in excess of $200k.
Makes you wonder what else he had going on in his life to need that extra money.

This is something inexperienced people say.

can say 100% without doubt that they'd be met with gunfire if they kick in his door at 6am
And with that reasoning you can say they would have 100% been met with gunfire at the airport, but hey I guess if a bystander gets shot it's OK as long as we don't wake him up.

Might be hookers and blow.. $200k is not enough if you're gonna lead that lifestyle. Hell, I guess 200k really isn't all that much without the hookers and blow by todays standards.

Well somehow I doubt he was the only house on the street so bystanders were probably at risk at his house also

It really doesn't matter where they got him. If I'm an ATF agent and I can avoid kicking in the door I would for my own safety.
Personally, I'd have gotten him coming or going to work. As someone stated, he sees LEOs all the time in his line of work. I just know that if someone kicks in my door in the middle of the night, there is a 100% chance rounds will be fired. If I'm an agent, i don't want to be fired at no matter how much body armor I have on.

So, why not do it with a traffic stop?

Because there's traffic...

Soccerfut said it earlier.

The home raid was not a perfect solution, it probably was merely the best solution of all the not great options.

This is why some people should work in offices and talk about how they could do it better instead of actually doing it.

Ya, I mean we can armchair qb this all day.
Me as a civilian, kick his door in all day.
I'll never be at his house like CAD. I might be at the airport, I might be on the highway.

guess at that point he chose suicide by cop?
Aren't you against these no-knock raids?

Dude had a shootout at his house? Why do you think arresting him at the airport would have had a better outcome? He was already paranoid, driving erratically for months.
So you're saying he was paranoid because he was driving erratically? How do we know he was driving like that?

The documents on Twitter said while ATF was surveiling him he'd jump across lanes of the interstate to take exits, drive back and forth on the same road, park in random parking lots then go back the way he came, etc.

Do you think he would act more erratic if he was pulled over for a traffic violation, or if you kick his door down at 6am?
ETA: follow him until he parks and block him in or something. Kicking in someone's door at 6am is asking to get shot at

Was it because they were following him?

So he wasn't paranoid. He was 100% correct.
