Who lets 9 year olds play with 12 year olds anyway? This league is either fake or really screwed up.

The league is actually for kids that are 10-13 technically depending on when their birthdays fall. However if you are solidly 9 you can still get picked up in the "draft" by a majors team instead of playing in minors.

I really think it's a good idea to teach our kids to be ultra competitive assholes at such an early age.

"OldWarSkuleAlum" is an obvious Ole Miss fan alter, no tipping and classless actions with kids all add up to the makings of a perfect Ole Miss fan. Even if you aren't presently a Rebelbear, with your history please join them, I can assure you that you'll be very comfortable there amongst them.

Definite bitch move, but hey, you found a strategy that allowed your usually terrible team to win without actually having to play much baseball.

I'm sure that 9 year old catcher who probably is average for that age felt amazing after having an adult pick on him the whole game.

I don't think you were necessarily wrong. I hate the everyone plays everyone gets a medal mindset. That being said if these kids are all undersized and not very good, I think you did well at showing them how to win playing their own way. If you're not supposed to try and win what's the point in playing?

This depends on the situation. If you still have all your better players in I don't think I would pour it on. On the other hand if I had my weaker players in I would give them the opportunity to play the game the way it is meant to be played. I have coached many of teams between the age of 7-10. (Girls basketball, softball, and volleyball). I always pull my Better players with a big lead. However my subs play to the best of their ability.

Every single one of the kids on my team played atleast 2 innings.

So, you volunteer to be around a kids team without having a kid on it, then take them to a place called "Pied Pipers Pizza"?

Acreboy?

ETA: It's Peter Piper Pizza. Which somehow makes it sound creepier.

This thread is whatever, but I do think that unwritten rules in baseball are MAD GAY. When you bowl against someone, do you start throwing gutter balls if you're winning by too much? frick no. Do you start closing your eyes in darts? Even in basketball, you shoot to make it, no matter how much you're up by.

Maybe the kids cry a little after....so what? That's part of this journey. Sometimes shite stinks in life.

You did a great job at utilizing the base stealing strategy.

Stealing up 7 or more is bullshite. You wanna act like a big leaguer with that mentality, then be prepared for backlash.

As for the opponents coach and parents yelling...it's pathetic for that to happen in a scrimmage.

Pretty poor league if they will call and ban you for what happens in a non-league sanctioned game.

if the league has a problem with it, they shouldn't allow stolen bases at all.

That being said, picking on a ten year old and exploiting his obvious weaknesses seems a bit excessive, and running up the score in little league is pretty shitty.

It would pathetic if a father didn't say anything if his son was the catcher in that situation. An adult decided that he would abuse that kid all game. As the op said, it's not typical for kids at that age to have a great success rate for throwing out a base stealer. And you're a fricking douchebag if you think the coach of another team should decide when and to what extent that kid should learn anything.

I truly hate this line of thinking. Look, I hate the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality as much as the next guy, but at no level of baseball is it acceptable to steal bases up 10 runs. Plain and simple. It is bush league at every stage and I've played through collegiate baseball.

Abuse?!? No, more like teach the kid a lesson he's on one of the better teams in the league and the mighty fall harder than the proletariat.

What matters is my kids won and made a statement doing so.
