Listening to the radio with kids

Any of you baws find it impossible to listen to the radio with kids these days? Just about every song has something really inappropriate. I have two young teen boys...it seems as though every other song on the radio is either The Weeknd talking about "heat between your legs" or Nikki Minaj saying something really nasty. Makes for an uncomfortable time, even worse than the erectile dysfunction commercials during football games.

That's why you play the oldies stations and show your kids real music

Yeah it's difficult. But looking back my parents listened to the radio with me and I had not idea what "Afternoom Delight" or Zeppelin singing "I wanna give you every inch of my love" was about until much later.

Most of the prevalent pop culture output is garbage. But then again, it's designed to be.

Some of the newer country stuff is getting just as bad. Ten years ago the words would be edited out or they would use a random cartoon sound in place of the nasty phrase.

No pop music for my kids. They'll be hearing classic rock and 90s/00s alternative.

1) Let them hear a curse word or adult theme as they are growing and becoming aware of their world and discuss any questions they have as they become real people
or
2) Just put it on Disney's XM channel in an effort to protect them from the big bad world and listen to the song from Frozen over and over until you spray your brains all over the passenger compartment, leaving them orphaned and scarred for life.
Your call. I'm going with just throwing some Guns on and calling it a day.

Throw in some Keith Sweat. Let them baws know what dirty music sounds like.

The iPod is my friend. I punch in my favorite jazz, classical guitar, blues, or whatever is NOT the absolute crap coming over the radio and divorce myself from the brain scrambling nonsense.
Life gets assloads better.

The pop songs in the 80s & 90s were just as filled with sexual references. Do Me, Baby? Yeah, it's a little awkward, but I would rather stay current & know what they're hearing. If they're teenage boys, they're already jerking off 5x a day. The song isn't a big deal.

We listen to The Highway and it's not much better with songs like Breakup Sex and Body like a Backroad

What about the KY commercials?

Just say this. "Kids, daddy doesn't have that problem because y'all are here and mommy is still hanging around."
Seriously, the only radio I can listen to with my 7 yr okd daughter in the truck is Watercolors and Kidzs Bop.
You can forget any of the CHR stations.

Don't be a poor. Get Spotify and make your own playlists.
