There's so much stuff moving here they can't fill a lot of the jobs fast enough. We've been hiring for the last 2 years and can't really keep up because people have already accepted something else or have so many other options it's hard to get them here.

Helpful info, thanks.

I’m sure the demand for workers varies by industry, but i think i’ll start putting out some feelers there.

I wasn’t necessarily looking for a job, but I was contacted by a recruiter (on LinkedIn) about a job with a 15% raise, that was 100% remote. I now work at that job

Working remotely is the absolute way to go.. If i worked in an office or cubicle, i’d take a 15% pay *cut* (or more) to work remotely.. It’s not for everyone though; my wife says she could never do it, she doesnt have the discipline.. but if you know when to work, and when it’s ok to **** off, it’s a dream.

The only people that use it are realtors and women in hr

People that really work don’t need it

It’s great for sales. If I need to know who the Chief Marketing Officer at ABC, Inc. is, I look on there. If I can’t track that person down, I can go back and look for people that report to the CMO.

Also, great for when you are meeting with someone you have never met. You can get an idea of their background and see if your paths have ever crossed before.

I use it all of the time.

Nope. Its like an OT subtle brag-I’m a sanitation engineer—Otherwise known as a trashman. I’m sure recruiters capture all sorts of personal info from this site

I can assure you that mine is not...I haven't been on it in years....I don't know what details I last updated. I get some emails to my junk email account about people interested in me or someone I know got a new job...but I just delete the emails. And again, note that the email address linked to my LinkedIn account is a secondary email I use for junk crap like that. I rarely ever have to put anything in my primary email into junk. I like to keep that account for things that actually might need same day attention.

This was my mindset before I took my current job. I started my career working remotely for 5 years, then my company got bought by another, and I had to go into an office for a year. I was at the point where I would’ve taken a pay cut to leave, luckily I didn’t have to.

You had your thing open to recruiters while at your previous job? I always figured the company would find out and start asking questions. People from my company, and the parent company, have looked at my shite multiple times

Well they have to have the LinkedIn Recruiter subscription to see that.
And also your current employer can't see it. But obviously in your case (parent company) that wouldn't apply since it's a different entity.
It really isn't a big deal.
What is the HR lady going to do? Email your boss?

I signed up for it because why the frick not. I have 3 connections and log on every few months. Invariably there are connection requests from people I don't know who are in completely unrelated fields.

I’m not listed as “looking for future opportunities” or anything. What do you mean “open to recruiters”? My field is very competitive, almost everyone is on LinkedIn and it’s pretty well known that if you’re on LinkedIn, you’re going to be recruited.

There is a thing that says "Let recruiters know you're open". I have that off, and have the status set to "not looking, but open to offers"

Ah, I haven’t touched either of those settings, so no clue what they are set to.

I’m in sales and I use it daily. Can’t imagine getting my job done without it.
