I've lived through 2 that give me the creeps to this day. One when I was 8 and one at 10. The one when I was 10 involved a double homicide.

I begin tucking him into bed and he tells me, “Daddy check for monsters under my bed.” I look underneath for his amusement and see him, another him, under the bed, staring back at me quivering and whispering, “Daddy there’s somebody on my bed.”

I have always enjoyed weird/scary horror, especially the pulp greats like H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Robert Bloch, Clark Ashton Smith, Manley Wade Wellman, William Hope Hodgson, Frank Belknap Long, etc., and I have pretty much all their writings on multiple shelves in my library along with a collection of Weird Tales downloaded as .pdf's from https://archive.org. There are a bunch of great stories in those old issues.

Stephen King has three or four short story compilations that I read when I was younger. Lots of good stuff, but I think “The Boogeyman” bothered me most.
