Walkability to restaurants, schools, museums, etc. is mandatory.
Walkability to all of the above is really not possible.
for schools and restaurants, I would consider the BR Garden district or Capital Heights area.
Schools being Catholic & St. Joeseph's.

Maybe somewhere around the Perkins Road overpass would give you at least some stuff you could walk to.

Maybe look at Beauregard Town section of BR - but you won’t be walking anywhere at night (and it’s iffy during the day)
But the downtown BR scene is not like other cities
Also, Spanish Town - which is on the other side of downtown. But it’s not the safest either.
ETA: there are no schools down there

Do you care if the house is haunted?
If not…you are in luck!

This guy thinks he’s going to walk to restaurants and schools in BR

Southdowns. Restaurants on Perkins, schools inside the neighborhood, knock knock museum not too far. Can walk to LSU. And it is like 87% white.

We would prefer Greek Revival but Federalist could do. I’ve seen few 1840s+/- homes listed. Walkability to restaurants, schools, museums, etc. is mandatory. Thanks for all suggestions.
Great troll thread.

Someone is bored and found an old alter imo
If serious, do major research if you have limited knowledge of BR, start with crime stats specifically murders per year.

This is why I love this board. Assuming a troll but still good!

Mogadishu > Zwolle > Slidell > Baton Rouge

Maybe check out New Roads. A lot of older homes in the middle of town.

Is the consensus that I’m looking for a unicorn?
A unicorn has a better chance of existing than what you are looking for in Baton Rouge.
The consensus is don't move there at all if that's what you want, because if you try it, chances are you'll be robbed or dead soon.

You are more likely to get impaled by a unicorn then find something that fits your description.

If you’re looking for the antebellum experience your best bet is on a street with a presidents name.

This. I’m about to put my house up for sale next week in Southdowns. It’s an older style cottage home we recently remodeled and added square footage to. Large yard. Kids go to school like 1 minute drive down the street and walk home in afternoons. There are restaurants within walking distance or a very short drive. Safe area just a short walk from the LSU lakes also.
