License Plate Light?

My daughter ( for the assholes, no pics) got a ticket tonight for no license plate light. This might be the biggest bullshite traffic stop I’ve ever heard of. WTF are headlights for on a law enforcement vehicle, then?

Yep, son got one for that. Just a easy reason to stop people at night.

She asked the deputy to show her where she was supposed to have one and he couldn’t find it. This is a bullshite statute.

He wouldn't have had to try and find it if it was working. He is a cop, not a mechanic. Now go find where that light goes.

What terrible values you’re teaching your daughter. You need to teach her how to accept responsibility and solve a problem, rather than bitch and cry about it.

This was years ago, but I was pulled over 3 times in about a 2 year span for my license plate light being 'out'.
Each time my light was working just fine. I showed the leo the functioning light and they would give me some spill about it being dim, etc etc.
It's just a way to pull someone over and give a ticket.

FIFY
OP, put some LED replacement bulbs in there. How old a vehicle is this?

You know those little frames the dealer puts on your license plate? They can pull you over for an “ obscured” plate because of that frame. BS

And for the rest of us?
Congrats on your daughter achieving ATM status. It is bullshite revenue raising. There are many more nit picky tickets she will receive as the hunger for cash grows.

That was definitely an excuse the officer used to initiate contact with your daughter and see if she was driving under the influence, had an outstanding warrant, driving with a suspended license, etc. Your daughter must have done something to make the officer mad if he went ahead and gave her the ticket instead of a warning after he couldn’t find anything else.
The law varies by state but, in Texas, I think the requirement is that your plate has to be illuminated and visible from 50 feet away. I have 2 lamps on my plate so even if one is not working, that isn’t necessarily a violation. Find out what the exact requirement is in your state and then decide whether to fight the ticket or not. And fix the lamp.

In college my wife got pulled over driving through tigerland from brightside several times. Every time was complete bullshite. Once was literally "to let her know that some people drive through that intersection dangerously and for her to be careful". I think some cops try to find reasons to stop young, attractive girls.

Sorry. Your daughter is going to grow up to be a coke addicted stripper.

Easy way for your local government to get some more of your cash.
I got a ticket for my tag being expired by 2 days because the month ended on a weekend. Was literally 2 miles from the DMV to renew it. Get pulled over and ticketed. It's a violation that you can't just pay the fine; you have to actually show up on your court date. The judgevdropped the charge but I was still responsible for the court cost....$316.00.

Lol your daughter. I knew this was a law my whole life. They should check that and tell you when you are getting inspected.
I do agree it’s b.s. but it gives them a reason to pull you over. It’s how they found my warrant.

My daughter has gotten pulled over twice since she got her license less than a year ago. Both times were for shaky reasons. She was not issued a citation in either case. I think that some cops like to target teens.

You talking about cops or teachers?

I read some comments on a law enforcement forum (don't remember which one) a while back, that cops use the ole "license plate light out" as an excuse to pull people over to look for other offenses.
