Being pulled over for a license plate light is normal. It’s necessary to have a functioning light on your plate.
BUT a ticket for it seems a little overboard. Unfortunately your daughter came across some insecure tool cop.

That is on elf the popular excuses often used by LEAs to pull over drivers on the LivePD show. Then, they look for other things that may be promising.

Teach your daughter how to change the light. It's not that hard. Also, like one poster said, buy a pack of LEDs for $10 on Amazon and upgrade -- makes a huge difference and they last forever.

Got pulled over in Vidor TX for a burnt out light on my license plate. The cop was nice, no ticket, told me to get it fixed and I was on my way. Do I think he pulled me over just for that burnt out light. Not a chance.

I read some comments on a law enforcement forum (don't remember which one) a while back, that cops use the ole "license plate light out" as an excuse to pull people over to look for other offenses.
