re: Letter to the Reveille: LSU Greeks should have 'Day of disobedience on game day.'

The Greek alumni need to just close their checkbooks when LSU comes calling. LSU always throws the baby out with the bath water and this is just the newest instance.
It will be interesting to hear what LSU has to say next year when the Greek "crack down" causes a statistically significant drop in applications. A lot of in state and out of state students will look elsewhere to more Greek friendly campuses.

I have to imagine this won't be permanent. This overreach by F King is greedy and unrelated to the tragedy that actually happened. But I don't think the fraternities do anything this week. It's become far too easy to be kicked off campus

Last week DKE sign was one of the worst ever. It wasn't remotely funny.

By disobedience do you mean "go to bogies" because that's exactly what they are going to do.

Doesn't the OT consider protesting stupid when it comes to much more important issues?

They said "Protest" not "Go rob and burn CVS"

Amazing a "grown" man wrote this.

Ben Wynn changed things in the 90s. This will end things now, I suspect.
My thought would be to simply take student activities off campus out of the reach of administrators.
Good luck enforcing that.

And this is supposed to be where a school administration feels like it can dictate on high who associates with who?
This could set an interesting precedent. Imagine if certain ethnic groups were banned due to potential violence? Thats an amazingly slippery slope.

I haven't followed this story very closely as I have no association with LSU, but usually when I see a sentence like that it is bullshite. But as someone who hasn't paid attention, what constitutional rights have been trampled on?

If the Greeks really want to protest, they need to do it by withholding money from LSU.
All you ever hear FKA talk about is money, so... that's where you strike.
The rest of this is just nonsense.
I'm not trying to be a downer on speaking out at all. I'm just trying to tell you where it would be most effective. Gameday demonstrations, etc... none of that will work. You will find most of the people at LSU on Gameday are unsympathetic to you.
If you want to protest/picket, do it during the school week. Picket the Chancellor's office, the System office, and, I hate to say this... the Foundation building, Lod Cook, and TAF. Picket the business/revenue streams. Even the Faculty Club.
The Greek system has plenty of people. Use them. What are they going to do? Suspend everyone?
But always remember... picketing does no good without demands. Come up with something simple... you stop picketing if LSU lifts the Greek Life ban. And don't leave until you get it. That's how you do it.

Why would anybody tailgate? Lsu is just gonna lose again
Posted on 9/22/17 at 8:29 am to Errerrerrwere
disobedience will help their cause.....
just wait it out and let things calm down. they are already opening things back up on sunday.
so you miss one tailgate.... in the big picture it doesnt count for much. throw more fuel on the fire then you will have something to complain about
life lesson learned " life isn't fair, get over it and move on"

So, 99.995 % of a group had their civil liberties taken away from them without due process and you are okay with this?
Civil liberties? They can't play beer pong in a group of 10 or more on Saturday. They'll be okay.
I also support them if they decide to completely ignore the memo.
My only point is the hyperbole is a bit much. You'd swear ignoring the memo makes you a modern day Rosa Parks based on this letter.
