MONDAY, Dec. 21, 2015 (HealthDay News) -- New research seems to contradict the idea that people might escape the health hazards associated with obesity if they're "fat but fit."
The new study suggests that the health benefits of physical fitness are offset by obesity. No matter their fitness level, normal-weight men had a lower risk of dying during the study than did the most physically fit obese men, the researchers said.

BMI is not a very effective scale. We don't have anything to do with its implementation.
Also, doctors have been saying that BMI is flawed for a while anyway.

Tell them to read this article and many others on the topic and to justify their decisions. Also ask if you can get body fat assessment and see if they'll take that into consideration.
BMI is a total crock of shite.

It's a crock for sure.
I'm 5'10" and 200 lbs +/- 3 lbs and workout regularly.
Even the new BMI calculator says my healthy weight range is 132 - 178.
I can't imagine how UNhealthy I'd look at 135 lbs.

Still has me at overweight.
I'm 6'2 225.
It says a healthy weight for me would be 152 lbs to 205 lbs
I think I'd look better if I lost about 10 more lbs, but if I were under 200 I would look like a skeleton.

I think that a load of shite, I understand the heavier load is harder on your body an such but there are much better formulas to gauge ones obesity level.

I'm 205 now at 10% body fat. Just got it measured professionally the other day.

I'm 6'4 and it says 219 is the high end of my target range. I want to be about 215. 180 is never going to happen (nor do I want to be that thin).

I'm not fat....just not tall.enough.

What if you have 15 lbs of dick. How does BMI adjust for that?

Like most non-elephant females: poorly.
