Let's Talk About Humanity's Future With AI and Robots

In the future one thing is almost certain: AI and robots are going to do probably 90% (or more) of the jobs humans currently do and do them better. Low level jobs like flipping burgers and being a cashier are already being done by robots. Even skilled jobs in the manufacturing sector have been done by robots for decades now. Back in the day all cars were made by hand, now almost no car is made by hand.

However, it's not going to end with low skilled jobs. In the future, robots will be smart enough to be doctors and will probably provide more accurate diagnosis and treatment than human doctors. A human cannot compete with a super brain that can instantly scan all known medical literature on a topic. Same for paralegals: Lawyers will no longer need paralegals because his AI robot will be able to dig into any obscure legal code within seconds and provide an answer. Eventually lawyers themselves will be replaced. It will be the same with engineering. A robot brain is going to design a better bridge than an LSU grad (sorry baws). Oh, and let's not forget the military: We won't need fighter pilots or drone pilots anymore - the planes and the drones will fly themselves. We won't need infantry soldiers, we will have machines marching on the battlefield like in Terminator. We will probably keep human generals around just to keep an eye on things, but the number of jobs in the military will be reduced dramatically. Eventually the robots will make the decision when to go to war and when and where to attack the enemy.

I think you get the point. There will be almost NO industry or job not taken over by machines. So my question is, what do we as humans do all day? I am not a socialist, but I see no way around a universal income. When there are literally no jobs to do, no matter how much we want to do them, what else can we do? We are going to have to pass laws so that the corporate giants like Google pass along their profit to the general population. We are all going to become welfare bums!

So this leads me to a question:

TL;DR - Robots and AI are going to replace humans in almost every job. Should humanity just throw in the towel, go extinct, and pass the torch to our robot overlords? I foresee humans failing to reproduce as life becomes more and more sedentary and comfortable. I think we naturally go extinct in time.
