Was this recently? Because it wasn't on D Day.

Marines didn't storm Omaha Beach, my friend. The 1st and 29th infantry divisions - both regular army - were the ones who stormed Omaha Beach. There was also a battalion of Rangers but no Marines.

That was my mistake. I thought it was marines. He said "those men" or something like that.

Yep.

These men were told by their superiors that the air and naval bombardments should have taken care of the German positions along the coast. When those ramps went down, however, it wasn't silence that greeted them - it was a buzzsaw. They were truly surprised by that.

Oh shut up. You made up another story for attention. Don't crawfish and change even though you clearly said Marines more than once.

Yeh they really got fricked. The Brits and Canucks pretty much waltzed up Sword and Gold that day. Utah also wasnt too gnarly

Reading comprehension is obviously not your strong suit. Those figures are for the whole Battle of Normandy - which was fought from June 6, 1944 - July 27, 1944. D-Day was merely the first day of that battle yet we only ever talk about THAT day. I feel like June 6 gets way too much attention when you take into account how important the rest of the fighting in Normandy was.

Should we stop celebrating July 4th as well?

Also, they didnt know what was waiting for them. They thought they would face light fire like the other beaches. The men on Omaha beach met an unfortunate suprise.

You are clearly an idiot who ignored everything in my OP and only downvoted because of the thread title. This is why the rest of the world looks down upon our education system, because of people like you who can't bother to read and educate yourself. You see the headline or the thread title and immediately make up your mind before you even read the body of text. Often times you don't read the body and merely shake your head and form your opinion on something just by reading the headline.

People like you shouldn't be allowed to vote. You breed ignorance and that ignorance spreads like a plague across the land. That ignorance shows up at the ballot box and then pollutes our political system with retardation and dumb assery.

Actually, yeah, we should. We declared our independence on July 2, 1776. The document was merely ratified on July 4.

Marines weren't on Omaha beach on D-day.

They trained the vast majority of forces that did land, but Marines were held back at Normandy.

Lol. Next thing you'll say is that Cinco de Mayo isn't Mexican Independence day.

I'm well aware of how Lend-Lease helped the Russians. I was making a joke about how hot you came in with that title and then expected a "real debate." If your title was what you edited to from the beginning, this thread might have been interesting.
