Exaclty, the Normandy invasions were to get a foothold in France so we can get the 1.3 million on the western front. If we fail then who knows how successful operation dragoon is. Wars aren't fought on paper if they were d-day would have failed. The odds were against us- landing on a beach that is mined and with Germans perched on the bluffs in a clearly strategic position.

He should have regrouped when he realized Britain wasnt going to back down and russia was going to throw millions upon millions of bodies at him. He could have had a nice chunk of Europe under german power if so
