A couple quotes from CSA major general, Patrick Cleburne:

quote:

"I am with the South in life or death, in victory or defeat. I believe the North is about to wage a brutal and unholy war on a people who have done them no wrong, in violation of the Constitution and the fundamental principles of government. They no longer acknowledge that all government derives its validity from the consent of the governed. They are about to invade our peaceful homes, destroy our property, and murder our men and dishonor our women. We propose no invasion of the North, no attack on them, and only ask to be left alone." ~ Patrick Cleburne

quote:

"It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties." ~ Patrick Cleburne

quote:

"Surrender means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the War; will be impressed by all the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision." ~ Patrick Cleburne

I always knew it was the North that was at fault for the war.

quote:

"So far from engaging in a war to perpetuate slavery, I am rejoiced that Slavery is abolished. I believe it will be greatly for the interest of the South. So fully am I satisfied of this that I would have cheerfully lost all that I have lost by the war, and have suffered all that I have suffered to have this object attained." ~ Robert E. Lee

quote:

"The consolidation of the states into one vast empire, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of ruin which has overwhelmed all that preceded it." ~ Robert E. Lee

It's almost as if even the Southern leaders weren't fighting for slavery.

The north won and the south lost. Those are the facts. You're not going to get a "nice" Civil War argument in here on the OT. Not gonna happen.

With that said, I'll leave you with this:
Abraham Lincoln once said, "If you are racist, I will attack you with the north".

When it comes to the Civil War, I always seem to side with Captain America over Iron Man.

Abraham Lincoln also said,

My father touched my butthole. Now, I’m on your penny.

Captain America couldn't even manage to get accepted into the military when they were literally taking anybody and everybody to serve. Had to get on roids, kinda like Ivan Drago in the USSR in Rocky IV.

Tony Stark is a capitalist billionaire who became a fricking superhero on the sweat of his brow. Iron Man is American as frick. Listens to rock and roll, beds down 10s on the regular, can fly into space.

If the South would’ve won we'd a had it made,
I'd prob’ly run for President of the Southern State.
The day Elvis passed away would be our national holiday,
If the South would a won we'd had a it made.

I'd make my Supreme Court down in Texas,
And we wouldn't have no killers gettin’off free.
If they were proven guilty, then they would swing quickly,
Instead of writin’ books and smilin’ on T.V.

We'd all learn Cajun cookin in Louisiana,
And I'd put that capitol back in Alabama.
We'd put Florida on the right track ‘cause, we'd take Miami back,
And throw all them pushers in the slammer.

If the South would’ve won we'd a had it made,
I'd prolly run for President of the Southern States.
The day young Skynyrd died we’d show our Southern Pride,
If the…

Iron Man wanted more government regulation and oversight. He literally wanted people put on fricking government monitored lists.

Captain America wanted personal liberty and freedom.

You support communism.
