I agree but I'm not trying to use it as a new revenue source for the government. They take more than enough of our money already.

There is one reason people commit crimes - because they can.

The countries that chop off hands for stealing have stopped crime. That is pretty harsh though; I would just do fingers.

I'd be with you on marijuana.

It should be farmed, rolled, packaged, and sold just like cigarettes. Then tax the shite out of it.

Why do you wanna tax the shite out of it? You don't think the federal and state govts get enough of our money already? Wth? Why does everybody insist on taxing shite so much? frick giving our inept govts more money to spend on stupid shite.

Yeah, because that's a huge issue Americans face... the horrors of black market marijuana

Taxed marijuana will be more expensive than the cartel will grow, transport and sale it.

Or good old Americans here will grow it to sell, like is happening in already in all 50 states.

That'll be a change from literally every other commodity of value.

I am all for reducing drug laws and penalties, just pointing out that people are always going to rob, rape and murder. There is no stopping crime

Sure, nothing will stop crime, including silly things pitched in this thread like public hangings. But I believe history has indicated that we can significantly reduce violent crime by decreasing the number victimless crimes, especially victimless crimes that can be easily monetized into a black market economy.

I say that they need to bring back public execution, and chain gangs all the time (Like Cool Hand Luke) not sitting in the a/c, watching tv, playing cards prison they have now. The criminals aren't afraid of the consequences anymore.

“Criminals” generally don’t believe they are going to get caught. The EBRPP is an oppressively hot, rat infested hell hole, and yet the crime rate doesn’t seem to be going down.

Why not just legalize all crime?
Then you'll never have crime!

I don’t think you understand the things people do on drugs vs being sober. Murder, rape, aggravated assault, violence, theft tends to happen a lot more when people are on hardcore drugs. Not to mention a lot of people have addiction genes that don’t need to be fed by free for all access to drugs.

To be honest, the best way to “reduce” crime would be to have those in the most crime ridden neighborhoods turn in the criminals in their midst.

Work with the police.

Why does the government need to heavily tax marijuana? They already have plenty of tax dollars they can’t manage.
