Let me tell you the story of a guy at my work named Don
We were both on the job but the power wasn't on
He brought in some candles, I said "Donald way to go!"
He replied "My name's Donathan, that's fo sho"

Was giving a presentation at a clients office and answered a question from their IT guy, who I know from emails is named Christopher, I called him Chris. He loudly corrected me and said "my name is CHRISTOPHER!" It was a big WTF moment.
My contact there later told me the guy is really adamant on the subject.
And he shall be henceforth be known as Pissy Chrissy!

It's not weird. My name is Nathanathan.

Donathan might be a bastardization of Johnathan, giving it a Jewish origin.

Turns out his name isn't actually Donald, but Donathan. It was a huge WTF moment for me. Who the hell names their child Donathan? I understand Jonathan, but Donathan?
I actually have a running joke where I refer to anyone named Jon/John/Johnny as Jonathan that started when I kept annoying this girl talking about GoT by calling him Jonathan Snow. This has extended to other -on names such as Don being called Donathan so I'd have probably nailed it on the first try. Actually, I asked someone named Kim if it was short for Kimothy the other day so at this point, it's any name that I can incorrectly lengthen.
These people also made the same connection between Jon and Don when naming him, except instead of think "I'll say this to be ridiculous", they thought "Yep, I think we fricking nailed it on this name thing".

Incorrect. Under the guidelines, Greg would remain as the shortened version of Gregory. Craig, however, would be the shortened version of Craigory.

Have a theory that most people who name their kids weird arse names do it as payback for ruining their social life before they were ready.
Why else would they give them a rough sounding name like "Sharkeisha", when they know it will make their lives harder in school and getting more hits on their resume?

Maybe Sharkeisha is just the inevitable result of sixth graders having babies.

Maybe his mom is Donisha and his dad is Jonathan?
