Same with us. Leftists turn everything to shite.

Yikes...cost us $250 out of pocket a couple years ago w/ United Healthcare at a top tier medical center (Level IV OB/IV NICU)

The average American has less than $5,000 in savings. We can only assume Louisiana is below this average.

So I have private insurance, get hammered by federal tax income, work over 40 hours a week to provide for my family, and have to pay $4,200 cash to have a child, but someone with Medicaid pays $0 and has the government front the bill?

I paid $7,350

Medicaid dictate what they will pay hospitals. For example an ER visit pays the hospital around $80 per patient. That’s why it’s so expensive for people with insurance.
what I’m saying is - whatever Medicaid will pay is what the hospital should charge to EVERYONE - why does Medicaid pay $80 for an ER visit - the hospital charged insured person $250 - and your insurance only pays $175

First off, ER visit isn’t usually worth $250 so Medicaid may have a point paying only $80

But why is ghetto Joe’s visit only $80 and ceo Joe is $250 at the same hospital??? That’s the problem

In Texas, undocumented immigrants ALSO qualify to receive medicaid, with the mother and child BOTH qualifying for care (the mother for a year after each birth).

And CEO Joe gets screamed at that he isn't paying his fair share. Then because there are 1000 ghetto Joe's for every 1 CEO Joe, this will happen over and over and over again.

Lol that’s just the start. There is a sizable portion of the population that financially benefits from having another kid

no they dont - in emergency situations sometimes - but a pregnant woman is not covered in Texas by Medicaid - the child is once he or she is born bc that child is a citizen

I literally stuck $20K in my pocket getting my job PLUS the pay on top of that. Just about all the small business owners we know have the same setup: spouse runs the business, other spouse has corporate job with benefits.

Drop to your knees right now and pray this is a standard procedure resulting in a healthy mother & baby.

$4,200 is chump change if anything out of the ordinary arises.

There's a reason nearly every ad for S/CHIP in Atlanta was in Spanish.

quote:

Much like Medicaid, each state is given the freedom to determine the design of its CHIP program, including eligibility groups, benefit packages, payment levels for coverage, and administrative and operating procedures.

States may have varying eligibility rules, but in most states, uninsured children under the age of 19 whose families earn up to $36,200 a year (for a family of four) are eligible. SCHIP provides coverage for:

doctor visits
immunizations
hospitalizations
emergency room visits

The parents of the minors were also eligible to enroll in S/CHIP, at least in Georgia.

That's ridiculous. Our first child was born in 2002. We had BCBS and actually made money (about $200) from it. My 2nd child was born in 2007 and we wound up having to pay around $500. And he was a C-section.

Just tell them you will not be prepaying and they need to run it through insurance once services are rendered. My hospital 100% presented the prepayment as mandatory when I went to register but when I pushed back they reframed it as they are doing us a favor, to get it out of the way before baby comes. When I pushed back saying that they had no idea of an accurate amount, they said they do this all the time and can estimate it pretty accurately. I asked if I didn't pay right then would I be denied service and they said no. So I said, "bill me".

Once we got the bill and realized it was half of what we were told it would be, I figured it was just an easy way for them to get an interest free loan for a few weeks. Knowing my hospital they would have tied up $2,000+ of our money for a couple of months while they took their sweet time to determine if we were even owed a refund. Shady.
