Terms of his settlement with LSU have never been disclosed. Apparently LSU takes the position that a confidentiality clause they signed prohibits LSU from disclosing how much was paid. Seems like a public records violation to me. Any thoughts?

interesting question. since the print media isn't going to bother, leave it to the bloggers, like Tom Aswell or Lamar White to go make a records request. Seems like it should not be confidential since it is state money, unless he paid us.

Was the suit TAF vs Chavis or did was TAF money used to settle?

Because that could make it private and not a concern.

It’s got to be less than his contract which was already disclosed.

TAF money wouldn't fall under pubic information law but I don't know if that's the case or not

I don't know this for a fact, but based on history I'd say Chavis' legal team was winning, and then late in the case Chavis told them to back way off and let the opponent have whatever they wanted, as long as it didn't lose the case. But they took so much from the Chavis team that they ended up winning anyway.

But that's just based on watching Chavis' behavior for a few years.

Isn't the athletic department private and somewhat separate from the University? If so, it's a sealed settlement between the parties...you or I would have no right to see what was in it

I like how everyone detests Chavis for this when he has a history of being a class act. Meanwhile, the state of La has a history of being corrupt and overall run by huge pieces of shite including the university. Something tells me Chavis is the one that was in the right.

Good question. I think LSU can take that position until someone files a Freedom of Information request, at which point they edit her turn over the info or go to court(which I suspect they would do). At that point, a court ruling compelling them to turn over info would negate the confidentiality agreement on their part. Maybe that is their strategy? Also Chablis is a private party, so his interest may take precedence? TAF money would throw another wrinkle into this. I’m not a lawyer, just spitballing some possibilities.

I never got the impression Chavis had the upper hand. He seemed to fighting an up- hill battle against LSU and he was stuck in LA state court. I am not sure the status of his suit against TAM but I would bet both suits got worked out. Hell LSU could have gotten money in this whole situation.

How stupid are you? There is a photo of what that cocksucker was doing on our dime! No class! Forget the contract dispute, his actions said all we need to see
