125oz of water a day will keep the leg cramps away.

If we are talking about your calves, lock your toes under something and pull them up as hard as you can.

Activating the front calf muscle forces the opposing muscle to relax

Potassium and/or magnesium don't always work for nocturnal leg cramps. I use Hylands Leg Cramps tablets. Two under my tongue before bedtime and I'm good to go.

Yep. If it's a Charlie Horse, you get up as quickly as you can and put all your weight on it. Disappears immediately.

Yes, I do that when it's a light one, and it does tend to go away quickly.

The ones I'm posting about are ones that don't relieve from simply standing and stretching though. These are intense pain for several minutes, and you can't find a position to make it go away.

I ended up last night laying on my back, and stretching my legs straight up in the air, and pulling back on them to my head. Had to have my wife help me with it because I couldn't do the left leg by myself, it was so tight I couldn't budge it.

Was miserable for sure. I think it lasted like 15 minutes. I was sweating like I was having a heart attack.

Put a bar of soap under the top sheet near your legs.

Long shot, but after spending a few years in New Hampshire, and being bitten by ticks countless times (ticks in the northeast are like ants in the south, there everywhere), I ended up catching Lyme disease.

For several months I'd wake up with excruciating leg pains/cramps with no other symptoms. Talked to my brother (he's a Doctor) about my suspicion of Lyme and asked if I should be tested. He said skip the test, its likely Lyme (based on tick bites and the cramp symptoms). He prescribed a strong antibiotic, for a week or two.

After the antibiotic regimen, the nighttime legcramps/pain ended, and not problem in the few years since then.

Have you been anywhere where Lyme disease is common?

Also, there are a lot of claims of joint/muscle/leg cramp side effects of the covid vaccines...

Apparently pickle juice is supposed to be good for cramps.

That's bc of salt.

Someone mentioned potassium. Yes. And magnesium.

Water is most likely correct here, as well as normal electrolytes, but get a medical work up. Have them draw labs, check blood pressures in bilateral legs and arms(ABI’s), and assess medications like Statins that cause these issues. Some people take CoQ10 for leg cramps on Statins, etc. also check thyroid hormones, and calcium ( parathyroid ?) all things that can be ruled out that have bigger health implications.....

Magnesium. I thought there was no way it would work, but it’s a wonder pill for me.

If it's dehydration, pickle juice is the answer.

ETA: it would've helped to read your post. Before I was diagnosed with diabetes I fought something similar. Any related symptoms like urinating often, sugar cravings, weight change?

Well, not really, but I'm sort of back on keto, and have lost about 18 lbs in the last 6-8 weeks.
