. Likewise, I won't buy cereal from anyone but Wal Mart because it is over 2-3 bucks cheaper

The cheaper prices mantra is overblown. Walmart on average is cheaper, but not usually by much. And I routinely see prices as cheap or even cheaper at other stores. I have never in my life seen a box of cereal $ 2-3 cheaper at Walmart than at any other decent sized grocery. At most $1, usually less.

I dont have an issue with the one on 44/42, because that entire intersection needed a face lift.

I can't wait to get gas there. Will be fantastical.

There's no way they are opening a Neighborhood Walmart at airline and 931/duplessis/Germany. Right???

there's full service Walmarts just a few miles north at Perkins and Just south at 30.

Walmart will easily save you at least $10-$20 on $100 trip if you buy the Great Value stuff.
That's a lot of money to me. I prefer Calandros and other AG stores when I can afford it. But times like these, I HAVE to shop at walmart for everything.

Plus we use Walmart Savings Catcher now. That's pretty much daring other places to match prices with them on name brand items.

I would too If I wasn't so very poor.

That's what happens when you waste adderal on the OT. You should be out running a marathon or something.

Yeah I'm not arguing that generally Walmart is cheaper and it does add up, but if you shop sales it's not hard to avoid Walmart without spending more money. At least in Houston, Kroger's prices are very competitive on a lot of things.

You made me miss Mockingbird Station again. Thread the other day , a guy was looking for places to live around Dallas/North Dallas. Kroger next door was nice. The tenants would use several buggies and park them neatly outside our complex and Kroger certainly didn't mind us young professionals borrowing their buggies for 300-400 meter stroll.

Please provide a link for some stats of the correlation between Walmart locations and increased crime.

LINK

The study looked at annual crime rates in 3,109 counties between 1991 and 2009. Wolfe was especially focused on the 1990s, when crime rates plummeted nationwide and Walmart experienced dynamic growth. The study found that the crime reduction was slowed in communities where Walmart expanded, a trend that continued in the 2000s.

There is a protest every single time a Walmart opens. Has any of these protests work?

And it's a Walmart Marketplace, so it's small basically like LeBlanc's or Albertsons.

I've cleaned my office and refrigerator and I'm about to do 8 minute abs. Anything but actual work.

My neighborhood protested big time to the city. They were going to put in a 24/7 Wal Mart Supercenter in right next to the neighborhood. We weren't completely successful, but were able to get them to only open the smaller / nicer Wal Mart that is only open until 11PM. There is a lot less trash at this type of wal mart, but still trash for sure.

I like options. Wal-Mart sells the exact same thing in every store. I mostly shop at a local owned Big Star. I can ring the buzzer in the meat dept. and one of the butchers will cut a steak or any thing I desire. I can buy a chicken that was alive a few days ago, wasn't frozen, and isn't vacuum sealed in some slime from a meat processing plant. When I check out there is no line and the bag boy will put the groceries in my car. I may pay a little bit more but Ive got options, some better product, and great customer service.

this. I see Randy's concern, but continue to run your store and you will have no problems. I never have to wait to check out at Leblanc's. And their meat, product, and liquor department will blow wal mart out of the water.

You can believe me, brother.

I'm not gonna lie and say I never go in one, but it is like once every 2-3 years.

Google Wal-Mart vs GoLight and you'll know why I hold WM in low regard.

Oh, I totally get that. I'm not saying that the meat department anywhere but Wal-Mart isn't better... But for the everyday shite, it's hard to beat

Ive shopped one of these Wal Mark Markets a time or 2 while at my parents and they are complete garbage. Yea the prices are ok but the selection is total crap. Ill have no problem passing this up on my to Leblancs where the lines are short and the store is clean.

ETA: Has the one on 42 &44 opened yet?

For those that insist they'll keep buying their meat at local places, do you really think that most grocery stores make decent $ on meat?

The markdowns (loss) on meat/produce can be pretty bad. Often, quality meat/produce sections simply serve to drive extra traffic to the store, which hopefully buys other higher margin items.
