WalMarts attract vagrants and people of the trashy variety. I agree that it is a safety concern. Of course I would not want one close to me due to the cheap prices but I would also be legitimately concerned about their clientele.

Leblancs has fresher meat, better produce, vastly superior beer/liquor section, really great restaurant quality food served in the deli, local seafood, and the same prices on Shur-Fine products as Wally does on Great Value. I'd gladly spend $10 more on a grocery trip to get food from them than a shithole like WalMart who is just trying to get the EBT traffic away from Leblancs.

The grocery store WalMarts usually have a higher quality of meats and other items

I completely disagree - last time I went into one they had 1/2 of the meat on discount because it was going to expire in a day. The beef was browned over already and the chicken section reeked from juice getting on the refrigerator shelving. No thanks.

Walmart superstore in Gonzales was packed this evening. I shop at both Walmart and at Leblanc's. I like the Deli at Leblanc's. I get in and out in no time.
Too many vandals lurking outside if Walmart at night. Plus customer service at WM is below average.

Yeah....i shop at walmart cause it puts back $$ in my pocket. I'm not spending an extra 50 bucks per grocery trip for the sake of shopping local. It doesn't make financial sense
