My parents put a 3 foot picket fence around the lake house to prevent the neighbors leaves from coming in. It looks nice and works pretty well.

I don't even rake my leaves. They work themselves out. By the middle of winter, they're all gone.

By the middle of winter they're everywhere else in the neighborhood.

Are y'all friends?

Would you be friends with someone like that? We haven't spoken to each other since he moved in 10 years ago. I tried talking to him a few days after he moved in and he always gave me the cold shoulder. Finally I just gave up trying to be friendly. He's proven himself to be a crappy neighbor multiple times over the years.

My maple tree seems to drop all of its leaves into the street somehow. Odd

Leaves from your tree in others yard?

I don’t actively participate in our HOA, but my neighbor was telling me that they’re voting this week (at the monthly meeting) to decide if homeowners are responsible for leaves from their trees.

Only way I would go for this is if the HOA made it a rule that the neighbor couldn't enjoy the shade from the tree during the summer.

I think the only answer is to attach an individual rf tag or bar code to each individual leaf every spring and then have an audit of said leaves every fall. You should nominate the woman that suggested this HOA rule for the job. It sounds like she has too much free time anyway.

We have a leaf crimes unit in our hoa. You might think it’s a joke but you won’t when you get booted

My neighbor's (the old crank) wife is crazy about the leaves on their lawn. I see her everyday picking up the leaves and bitching. I don't have any trees on my property so she bitches to me. She stops short of telling me to clean the leaves off my lawn.

Sounds like a way for a few people to get out of having to rake their yard

I don't have any leaf dropping trees in my yard, but I would never expect a neighbor to pick his up

Many cities have policies that homeowners specifically can't be held responsible for falling leaves or even trees. As said, this is already been dealt with legally, but the problem is, HOA and local municipalities don't care unless there are specific state or local laws, and they can still cause a lot of hassle.

My HOA doesn't bother us with this crap. Seems you have a neighborhood of lazy fricks. If it's in your yard you clean it up. No vote needed.
