I'm dating a single mother that has a 19 y/o daughter who can't drive. I think she's tried to teach her but they're both scared. I know this mother very well and believe it's that she's not a good teacher. Father is not in the picture. Should I offer to take the girl to a big parking lot and teach her myself? I think she needs to learn to drive

I took my daughter to the fairgrounds to drive in an open field several times before I let her hit any pavement. She , too, was a terrible driver but she is improving

If you have access to a golf cart let her try that for a bit

With my daughter we started with a golfcart in the neighborhood. Had the basics, brake and gas pedals, steering wheel. Stay on your side the street and obey the stop signs, make turns in control and within your lane. Eventually we moved up to a car in the neighborhood and then finally a lower traffic road.

You should totally take the 19 yo daughter of some woman you are casually dating alone to a parking
Lot for an extended amount of time in your vehicle

Nothing can go wrong

Sure. Everyone needs to know how to drive. Take her to a big parking lot or field to start off and get a feel for the basics. Then slowly work into driving around neighborhoods, then secondary roads, and so on.

You can make a very positive impact on a person’s life. If you have the time it would be a very good thing to do. Very generous of your time.

Why don't you let me teach her to drive. There are some flags here that are waving in my direction.

Why not? I taught mine. I know it's not your kid but you're banging her mom. Help her out.

If she is that old and still can’t drive, even if you teach her, she will still probably be a terrible driver and dangerous on the road. If you want to help her out, buy her one of those self driving cars.

Drivers Ed instructor. She will eventually have to take a drivers ed course. There is a adult class ( one day classroom) 8 hrs driving with instructor. Usually do 8hrs 4 days 2 hrs each day. Let us do the heavy lifting, we have passanger side brake.
