quote:

As one of the first leaders of the Manhattan district attorney’s sex crimes unit, later the inspiration for “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” she became one of the best known prosecutors in the country. She went on to a successful career as a crime novelist and celebrity former prosecutor, appearing on high-profile panels and boards.

But since last Friday and the premiere of “When They See Us,” Ava DuVernay’s Netflix series about the Central Park jogger case, Ms. Fairstein has become synonymous with something else: The story of how the justice system wrongly sent five black and Latino teenagers to prison for a horrific rape.

quote:

In the last few days, online petitions and a hashtag, #CancelLindaFairstein, have called for a boycott of her books and her removal from prominent board positions. After a barrage of criticism directed at her on Twitter, she took her own account down. And she resigned this week from the boards of several organizations including Safe Horizon and the Joyful Heart Foundation, which aid victims of sexual violence, and Vassar College, her alma mater.

I’m not exactly crying for the Central Park 5.

They may not have committed the specific crime they were accused of but they admitted they had gone to the area with the intent to commit crimes and had done so IIRC.

Leave it to millennials to only be outraged about something if there's a Netflix special about it.

I'm not real familiar with the whole ordeal, but i did watch most of that netflix show and all i kept wondering is, "are we just going to forget all these kids were out beating and robbing people, even bashing some guys head open?" Regardless if they raped the lady, they still deserved jail.
The whole show portrayed them like they dindu....Maybe i'm wrong.

And now people are harassing the prosecutor for doing her job?

Pretty much.

Trump got a lot of press back in the day for calling for harsh punishment of the perpetrators. They are reviving this now to try and stir more black and Latino hate toward him.

You idiots. Trump was supposed to be able to see into the future and know the actual rapist would confess to it 15ish years later.

If trump isn't a psychic, how can he be president?

Did they do the rape or not???... nothing else matters in the eyes of the law... if it did DA would have charged them with said crimes

Twitter has been given far too much power. Why not just make lynch mobs legal?

Wrong.

This whole case was a simple case of if they're black they're guilty. Either now, in the past or in the future so throw the book at them.

Period.

I’d have to see a picture of the Central Park 5 to know if they’re guilty or not

Kids did nothing wrong, and were arrested, assaulted and wrongfully convicted. The DNA evidence said it wasn’t them. The NYPD needed someone to blame it on and used these kids.

And frick that bitch she deserves everything she gets, I hope she burns in hell

Her job wasn't to wrongfully convict people of raping someone they didn't. She knows deep down they didn't rape her and knew it at the time. frick her.

If she did her job she would have charged them with the crimes they actually committed. Instead she got some sacrificial lambs because the case needed to be solved ASAP.

NYC has an insane amount of wrongfully conviction over turns from the 80s because of the same shite shite police work/borderline criminal DA work we saw in this case.

Actually he was right. and is still right.

His comments were the people who did that to that woman deserve the death penalty.

What he did not say is those 5 boys are guilty and deserve the death penalty.

But 2020 is coming so lets politicize this event to muddy the waters for the election.

Keep in mind Meechelle and Jugears are on the board of Netflix now so it's turned into a liberal propaganda machine.

part of the show went too far in painting them as saints, but that was mainly the families interviews.
And they didn't ignore that a horrible crime had been committed. They did a good job of giving that lady a voice. I was even surprised she was interest

Ehhh. Kind of hard to justify the rape charge when all of their DNAs didn't match. Back then aggregated assault or whatever the term is for them would have been fine.

They were amongst 30 youths in Central Park that night caught up in various crimes.

Were they guilty of that particular crime? Rape kit says no.

Were they committing other crimes? Survey says yes.
