The lines for the free stuff are miles long (literally). I’ve still got a decent cash reserve and money in the bank and I will gladly pay local businesses for my/our necessities to let the people who really need the free stuff get it.

I have a question:

Say your shed or portable building blows into the road or down the road a ways from your property during a storm, are you responsible for removing it? Are there crews out removing stuff like that from roads and sides of roads?

I can't imagine homeowners having access to equipment to handle stuff like that right now. Are the owners charged for stuff like that?

I've never thought about that aspect of it, and when I saw the pic of the shed in the road, it got me thinking.

Anyone in the area have tree removal people that you can refer to me? A friend of mine is asking for help in finding reputable, local people.

Thanks.

The company I work for actually put me and my family up in a Hyatt hotel in Houston for the time being. Being a proud father and husband I don’t like handouts but I was moved to tears. I will have to commute 2+ hours for the time being but they are going to be flexible!

cassopher, IDK you but my husband would be the same way. It's NOT a handout ... it's a helping hand. You do what you need to for your family and all will be ok.

I'm glad that you have a great company. God bless and stay safe. I'm going to go and cry now. My heart is broken from all of that area.

Spent today in LC cutting wet carpet and securing family homes. This is one of worst looking post storms I’ve seen because of the snapped trees and roof damage.

That said, it’s not as bad as Mississippi after Katrina to Panama City after Michael. No surge thus no flood damage. Plus LC folks are working harder than PC works ever did.

Water was working in south Lake Charles.

Pace of Recovery all rests on Entergy to restore the grid. Wish I had more confidence in them.

Sandbagging, I hope. Entergy is the master of lowballing expectations, then even average performance looks good.

Damn. Well I got my truck loaded to the gills. Headed out in the morning to work on 3 family properties. Went through Rita and Ike in SLC so I know the drill but from what I’ve been seeing and hearing this one was a lot worse. Hand in there folks, I truly feel for y’all. It’s been especially hard on our older family members. We are doing all we can to try and make them feel comfortable away from home.

I have said since the day after the storm, November 1st earliest you get water and power back to central LC. You may get one but not both.
