Red, how did your trip go? How did you make out with this mess?
I'm going tomorrow to look for myself but I know that at least one of my places has heavy damage. My cousin owns C&C appliance and the front of their store is gone.

Duke, I’m working at the Stine in Jennings today. Not much damage at all that I’ve seen. Half the town has power and the other half doesn’t. Gas station and all the fast food places are open, so is Stine and Walmart.

If you want to give me the address or even the street I can take some pics for you or even check on them if your comfortable with that. Let me know.
Run down Lucy Street if you have time.
Thanks dude, we appreciate it.

Seems like west of Jennings is where the crazy destruction started
East of there mostly some random downed trees

On my drive in Jennings looked good. You couldn’t tell a hurricane came through until you got to welsh.
Supposedly it will be a month until I get power here in Iowa.

No power on Lucy street. One house had a few shingles missing but other than that, zero visible damage to homes. One large oak down where it meets Sherman but missed the house.

Trying to check on some of my friends on Nick Martone road. You know S.T.?

Old south. My dad is in Welsh. Lost most of his shingles. How’s the tarp supply at Stines?

That was probably the start of the hurricane force winds. From my experience in past storms, 50+ can start doing damage and knock down old, weak, or diseased trees. 70+ is where newer and sturdy things start breaking and getting knocked over.

About 15 left. 20’X30’. Want me to set one aside for him? I’ll be here for another hour or so. They’re going quick. $69.99
Got some 12x20 too.

Has anyone heard / seen anything about Rabideaux’s Sausage Kitchen in Iowa, LA?
Maybe a silly question considering the damage to the entire region, but it’s one of my favorite places in the world.

I'll be in that area tomorrow. Want to go check my son's grave. He is buried not far from there.

Can anyone give an update on the disturbances that have come off of Africa?

Worth monitoring. Nothing else to really say for now. When they get closer and/or form, there will be a thread.

Oh red God bless you.
Thanks. This is like deja vu for us. My little brother's grave is next to my son's. We buried my brother at age 23 from cancer and not long after hurricane Rita hit. Now my son and hurricane Laura hits. My son was even named after my brother.

If anyone is in Moss Bluff, rouses there posted that they have water $2 per case and ice $1 per bag I think. They’re hoping to reopen this afternoon.
Generators worked as they hoped. I’m not in the area — just passing info as I find it (trying to help my brother who is in MB).
Also memorial is evacuating — ER to be manned by military personnel on a limited basis. Y’all be careful with clean up please!!

This is from Mark Sudduth @HurricaneTrack. He's trying to arrange for a way to recover the camera box in Cameron that saw the eye wall. It has instruments with data that could be helpful.
@hurricanetrack
Anyone here who could help can contact him on Twitter.
Or, I think his email shouldn't be hard to find. Maybe on his website.

If anybody has friends or even family members who work for the Cameron Parish sheriffs office, can you please let me know? I want to try to figure out how we could arrange to get that box out of Cameron to retrieve the pressure data from hurricane Laura. Thanks!

Jennings checking in here. First I want to say thank you to to the ones that bring valuable info to these threads, really appreciate it!
Jennings/Lake Arthur actually faired pretty well considering the extent of the damage a few miles to the west. Widespread power outages. A few fast food chains, gas stations and grocery stores are open. Of cousre, lots of trees and power lines down, awnings/ sheds and etc. are gone. From what ive seen, most homes are in tack with the exception of a few shingles missing, siding pulled off. All in all, I'd say we got lucky and im thankful it didn't make landfall 30 miles to the east.
