North Louisiana is devolving into anarchy

A hurricane’s never come through so strong up here so no one was prepared. Fast food lines and gas pump lines are like 200 cars deep.

Just an update from me..I live in South Lake Charles approximately 4 miles due East of the Lake Charles Regional Airport. My house shockingly survived and is still in one piece. It was on the eastern eye wall for a majority of Laura's passage. I'm so blessed. I haven't made it back to check on the house yet, but based on pictures I received, it looks to have lost 75% of the vinyl siding and maybe 50% shingle loss. No tree damage, thankfully. We have some roof leakage, but nothing some tarp can't patch for now. My SO who works for CPSO was sheltered at the sheriff's office and they lost most of the roof while the storm was passing. I'm sure that was terrifying.

I just got back from LC and a few observations:

You’re not getting power in central Lake Charles for probably 30-45 days. Main Entergy source structure is tore the F up. What I saw was massive devastation to power line infrastructure.

Have no idea about water but was told by a good clued in friend...it ain’t good either.

Hospitals are screwed. Do not seem to have a disaster plan whatsoever. How this happens in Louisiana I have no idea.

Lots of people lost everything and I’m a little pissed it’s not getting more attention. If a breeze blew across Magazine street it’d be national news. But it’s a bunch of country folks so nobody gives a shite apparently.

Home in LCH near McNeese. 3 tarps on roof and still have exposed wood.

You can also use poly sheeting AKA Visqueen if you have to in order to tarp. It will last about a month or two on a roof before the sun breaks it down.

Heard over fire station PA that 3 LCH water plants were completely destroyed.

Heard the same thing. That is going to be miserable. You can work around no electricity but the heat with no water is miserable existance.

My brother is in Baton Rouge heading back to LC in the morning. He needs 4 gas cans for my sister and we can't find any anywhere for him to buy some. Checked the usual places HD, Lowe's, Walmart...any places open until 9 he can check tonight? He has to be on the road with his job in the AM and can't stop. He is the outage superintendent for Entergy so he has a lot of work ahead of him.

How crappy does your water infrastructure have to be to get completely destroyed. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this happening. It’s just laughable.

Especially in the light of the joke my wife tells me when we moved back....Lake Charles is a booming metropolis.

I bought three this morning from Spillway Sportsmen in Port Allen. $25 a piece for 5 gallon.

Does anyone in LCH have contacts for disaster cleanup companies to assess water damage? Would like to have it looked at before I start ripping down sheetrock, though I’m fairly certain that will need to be done.
